If there were 32 starting quality QBs the market might be different, but it's the one position that you can't compensate for and still compete for championships. (I guess Dilfer is the most average QB I can recall on a Superbowl team - but I haven't thought it through a whole lot).

I'm not willing to go back any farther cause I don't want to have to **** someone up that says Jim McMahon was an average QB.

Trent Dilfer wasn't average... He sucked.

If he was average that Ravens team would have been 19-0 and I could've lived with our loss.

The thing that gets me the most is that many consider that Ravens defense to be the best of all time - even ahead of the 1985 Bears. Statistically our defense was better than the Ravens that year. We just blew it and the Ravens are lucky pieces of sh*t.

Yeah- you're right. I looked up Dilfer's stats for 2000 and his QB rating was only 76.6 that year. Pretty bad. He was the 20th rated QB in the league that year. (I guess, yes there were many teams with worse than Dilfer though - fwiw McNair rated 11th that year.)

I agree - 2000 was the best Titan's team I can remember - it was that year where we were the best team in the league - it just didn't work out in that game.... Special teams...

Rypien did have a flash in the pan career year the year he won the Super Bowl. If you look at his whole career he looks average at best. Looking at that year alone he looks like Jim Kelly.

Matt Stafford is still living off the fact that the Lions looked decent and made the playoffs 2 years ago in a weak division.

But I guess that is a pretty big accomplishment from the Lions point of view.

Just playing devil's advocate here: i remember people saying we must give cj1yd the big money so he could play big (or close to that sentiment). All about player psyche or attitude. Feeling appreciated or some drivel like that.

Why is no one saying we need to pay Jake big so he will play big?
