Cap Problems In 2014? Stewart A Cap Casualty?

Stewy is worth more than Washington. Look at how much talent depth we've acquired at the WR position compared to how often we've fixed the o line lately.

 

I'm okay with our cap situation because we can shed salary pretty easily if we don't make the playoffs by getting some overpaid guy off the roster. If we underpreform I think we will cut: Chris Johnson (saves 8 million), David Stewert (saves 6.4 million), Nate Washington (saves 4.8 million), and Craig Stevens (saves 4.4 million).

The a little over 23 million by cutting five guys.

 

Only saves 2.6 million.

 

He's gone either way, his contract jumps up a lot next year. Even more the year after.

 

So lets say... Locker sucks it something hard this year. We drop in fitz, still only gets us 1 extra win (cuz it's so late) we go 2-15 and get the first overall pick (glaringly need a QB) do we take clowney at number 1?

 

I personally do not see Stewart as top 10. He is an overrated penalty machine. Our two "All-Star" Tackles haven't done jack to earn their money the past few years. I know it takes a whole offensive line to compete.. then don't overcompensate two tackles who don't make the team better!!! Would we have been any worse last year with joe blow 1&2 at Tackle? Doubtful. Then there's no reason to pay them so much.

Those 2 tackles are part of the reason we have one of the highest offensive payrolls in the NFL. And they are a part of the reason why we are one of the most mediocre-at-best offenses in the NFL. I'm for a full house cleaning.

 

You want to take a DE when it would be clear we need a QB?

Me personally, the way I see it is; Jake's in that magical 3rd season, the one where you see a guy either pull it all together, or for everything to fall apart.

If he blows it and we start say 0-5.... I'll want his head on a platter.
