    Hell, let's make him the highest paid safety next season. We already gave the puss 5 year/$35mil - which puts him near the top. Why not cut Griff and replace him with someone better for only slightly more money?

    When you think of elite safeties you think of Polamalu/Reed, but those two are fading fast and will be retiring soon.

    So that leaves Byrd near the top. Who else is there really?

    Usually when safety puts up big numbers tackles and such it is because your defense SUX! Bryrd has talent but he is not top 5.
