Teams don't necessarily do any complex plays in preseason, but we're talking about our scheme. Imagine if Gregg Williams came here, said we were going to base 3-4, and got all these players that should be great in 3-4. Would you expect to see them play nothing but base 4-3 in the preseason opener? That's more or less wtf just happened. Replace 3-4 with press.

You must have missed Williams's stop in Jacksonville.

Being logical is not hand wringing and denial is not wisdom. I will not pretend like I didn't see what I saw. What's important is that we have coaches that are willing to fix this. We'll find out soon enough.

Started blitzing a lot more during the second half of the season which is why everyone on the team started to get more sacks in the latter half of the season.

Don't get me wrong I'm not here singing kumbaya and crapping daisies about our coaching staff but too freak out for any reason after one glorified scrimmage is asinine.

That is nowhere near the same thing as one is an entire different defensive scheme and the other is how close your corners line up to the opposing receivers. THat is like comparing apples to automobiles.

By all means wring your hands over one preseason game then; don't let me stop you.

I'm going to let Allen Iverson sum it up for me. Replace the word "practice" with "preseason" and that is basically my point.

Yes. Because there is nothing different about jamming a WR at the line versus giving a WR a ten yard cushion. :disappointed:

Yes, it is still a base 4-3, but the comparison isn't apples to automobiles either. There are a lot of variants to the 4-3.

Acknowledging that you have a brain and what you just saw was the same exact thing you've seen the last few years is not hand wringing.

You could sum this up with 3 words:

    Fire Jerry Gray.

Yea I think it is wise to hide your true identity at this stage of the season, but they spent all offseason talking about their intentions, so let the cat out of the bag already.

For a team that was out of the playoff race in November, fans are dying to see something good.

Im hoping they open up the playbook some next game

I think we might be giving our staff too much credit for "hiding" what we're really going to do this year. The only reason I'm holding out hope is because I saw us try a lot more press man stuff in the second half. Only reason it didn't work was because we had lower caliber guys out there.

With Vern starting at corner we played off coverage on Thursday night. Later in the game with TC and Blidi we played more press.
Id like to see us start off playing press Saturday since TC is supposed to get the opposite of Jmac.
