Locker back to pass... he launches one, wow, look at the mustard on that ball... it's in a rope... and hits roethlisburger dead in the nose! Man that's a lot of blood!

    Hey,

No one wants to start the season off with a bomb more than me, but they won't. That play is not a high percentage play leaving us with a likely 2nd and 10, something we're trying to stay away from...especially on the first drive when we aren't really sure what they will do on D. And they could just as easily sack us on that and put us in 2nd and 15 or worse...

    3 options...

    1. Go with a 3 WR set and see what Pitt matches up with. If they keep 4 LB's on the field...go play action and hit Britt on a curl or Wright on a slant, post, in out, whatever gets him open vs zone or a beefy LB. Let Pitt know if they don't match our WR's, we are gonna hurt them with the passing game.

    2. Go 3 WR set and see who gets CJ out of the backfield or Walker at TE. Force the Steelers into matching up or living in zone as we have favorable mismatches all over the field in a 3 wr set vs their 3-4 base.

    3. Run it at em. Fullhouse backfield with 1 TE and Britt on the outside. With our backfield (2 blockers and CJ) and Levitre pulling to Warmack's side, let's see who can pound who!!! Of course, can always audible to a pass or bootleg Locker out against the action.

However, I expect us to go offset I backfield and try some of our bread and butter runs to see how Pitt will match up personell and how many they put in the box. I think the Titans will play it relatively safe to minimize turnovers, negative yard plays, and to get Locker and the offense into the game and comfortable. Considering Locker has NOT faced Pitt yet, I think they will be very careful in picking their spots in choosing to throw. Ideally, Locker only throws on playaction throws, not 3rd and longs...

Play action bomb for a TD. Or a flea flicker. We need more creative, unexpected first plays. 9 times out of 10 our first play is a 2 yard run. Why not change things up and go for a TD right away?

Tight end reverse to Stevens on a screen and just when everyone bites on the play action, Stevens tosses it across the field to a wide open Quinn Johnson who stumbles his way to the end zone.

I'm glad they don't have Casey Hampton anymore. He would've caught QJ at the 1 yard line.

I love draw and screen plays but I think when you open a game, you need to be coming out aggressive, at least on the first play. If they are not going to bomb it, at least make it a 10-20 yard pass to create momentum and really put pressure on the pitt d
