most qb's today I think throw 30-40 times per game if not more. it's a passing league for sure

If he passes 20 times and hits 18 of them... I'd consider that fire.

Btw I expect to see 5-10 more passes this week.

we didn't need to throw the ball this game we got up saw they couldn't do a dang thing against our d and ran the clock and secured that all important 1-0 start! why does no one else realize this.jake threw 20 times in a half in preseason and looked good doing it when we need to do that that's what will happen....

now pour on the high fives

The real test for this coaching staff will be when we have to win the game from behind and can't run the ball. Will Jake get it done, can our receivers make those clutch catches.

I hope you don't think our defense is nearly as good as that Jets defense. We still have Jerry Gray as our coordinator and basically the same players as last year and that team gave up the most yards in franchise history. We played one good game against a team that is very challenged offensively. No Bell, no Miller, Pouncey lost and no true number 1 receiver. I assure you the rest of the teams we play, minus the Jags of course, will not have offensive problems.

Our offense playing that philosophy behind a highly suspect defense is a recipe for disaster if you ask me.

i agree, I think this offense is based on great D.... can this offense carry the team? at some point this offense may have to do that and win the ballgame, this offense strategy will backfire if the titans d doesn't perform. Both sides of the ball have to be even and the offense needs to open it up and let jake do his thing and if the coaching staff doesnt trust jake then guess what.... jake will be gone!

I don't but I think it can be top 10 and I think our offense is (or has potential to be very soon) far better than theirs was so that balances out

Geno Smith was horrible last night. He was throwing late behind his WRs all night. He threw 2 god awful ints during crunch time.

I don't give a **** how we beat the Steelers. A win over them is awesome. A win over them in their house on opening day is even nicer. A win over the Texans for their home opener will be even better.

I hope we are able to run the ball 40 times and abuse the Texans defense while keeping Schaub/Foster/Johnson/Daniels sitting on the sideline.

I think people are reading too much into this. The reason the Titans ran the ball twice to one pass is that it worked well for THAT particular game.

Put yourself in Munch's shoes for a minute. You have a QB going INTO Pittsburgh for the first time and facing the #1 D from '12. He is facing a Defensive Coordinator who usually destroys opposing QBs the first time they face them. You've invested a load into the OL and a solid RB. You want to keep your defense fresh so they can go after Ben. Why would you want to go out and start throwing the ball all over the field?

Yet the first two plays of the game were passes (and completions). At that point, the Steelers D could not totally focus on the run because Locker proved he could burn them through the air. It helped open up the run game.

Go back and look at the average starting field position the Steelers had in that game. Ben kept getting the ball inside his own 20 (5 times total) Knowing their offense was struggling, the Titans were not going to risk an INT with a lead in 3rd-and-long situation. It's better to punt and pin back Ben.

Two 6-minute drives by the Titans mostly running the football helped keep the D fresh and Ben on the sidelines.

It was the right plan for THAT game based on having the lead, good field position and an effective defense (along with their ineffective offense). I think we'll see a totally different offense Sunday because no way the Titans are going to shut down the Texans. They have too much talent. They will score points.

The Titans want to run the football but I think we'll more of a balance unless the Titans fall behind by 14.
