We're 1-1 after 2 difficult away games against 2 difficult 3-4 defenses. We beat the **** out of the Stoolers and matched up nicely against the Texans, who once again are hyped for getting deep in the playoffs. These were away games.

Is there room for improvement - absolutely. It wasn't pretty on offense. But I'll wait for our bye week before judging anyone.
We have 3 home games up next, Chargers, Jets, Chiefs, before going to Seattle and then hosting the 49ers. By our bye week we can be 5-2 or 1-6. Let's see how we progress.

First off, Jake is nervous. We would all like him to be over that by now, but he's not. In the big moments, when the defense is blitzing him, he gets nervous and misfires too often. That slant to Britt was an easy throw. We're 2-0 right now if that throw is on target. That said, nervousness tends to go away with experience. The parallels between McNair and Locker at this point in their careers are just undeniable. McNair also took longer than most starting QB's to get over these experience/confidence/nervousness type issues, but completely overcame them with time. Hopefully, Jake can do that too. Jake has some really good positives as a QB. He is a hard worker by all accounts. He is a fantastic young man personality wise imo. He is very mobile and can pick up first downs with his feet if nobody's open on important passing plays. He has improved drastically at decision making as far as where to go with the ball. He still doesn't have a full season worth of games started, so it's virtually guaranteed he's still improving. Jake has been slower than most other young starters to come around on some issues, but it does not mean he won't. This team will improve as the young guys and new teammates develop better chemistry. The Titans will be a better football team at the end of the season than they are now. Jake Locker will be a better QB at the end of the season than he is right now. Locker's play is frustrating right now, but this season could very well end with us feeling good about him. He needs more comfort and confidence in the pocket when facing the blitz. This should improve. Keep in mind, for a young QB, it just doesn't get any tougher than starting the season @ Pittsburgh, and @ Houston. It's a little early to turn on the kid right now imo. Should he look the same at the end of the season and against lesser defenses, maybe the Titans grow tired of waiting for him, but let's see how thing go this season before we decide he's a bust for us.

Locker has been nervous since college. That antsy crap runs deep in his history, if that was going to change, it would have already done so I think.

Sorry but I'm going with DW on this one. Kid will never be anything but mediocre. If he proves me wrong (which he won't) ill eat crow.... But really tho... The play calling even says.... Boy that kid sucks.

I'll post this here too, since Deuce posted his "analysis" as well...

Here is the breakdown on our passing plays (including plays with penalties)

    1st down: 15 dropbacks (13 runs)
    2nd down: 6 dropbacks (17 runs)
    3rd down: 16 dropbacks (1 run!!!!!!!)

Of the 6 dropbacks on 2nd down 4 were on the 2 TD drives and the final drive in the game.

This kind of predictiveness is what has opposing DCs clapping their hands, especially since its probably even worse if we add formation tendencies to it as well.

If this doesnt scream to high heaven of an incompetent playcaller on offense I dont know what does.

Seriously, when the D knows its run on every 2nd and pass on every 3rd down it is extremely difficult to be successful as an offence.

I think it's sad that "At least he's not turning the ball over" is the best thing we can say about our supposed "franchise QB" in his third year. I think it speaks to how low QB expectations have become here in the post-McNair era.

Actually the best thing you could say is that he lead us on 2 TD drives when given the chance. You just choose not to.

"When given the chance"? What's that supposed to mean. Seems to me he's given the chance to lead a TD drive each and every time he's out there.

How is he given the chance when the D knows whats coming?? Our 2 TD drives were the only 2 drives where we werent completely predictive. On every other drive the D knew 2nd down = run, 3rd down = pass. You honestly think thats giving your QB or RB a chance for success?? Lets not forget that CJs pedestrian 3.8 avg was just as much due to the pathetic playcalling.

Locker needs to use his legs more if we want to win big games. Period. That's what made VY so clutch in the 4th. He would use his legs to extend drives. Locker hardly ever does that. Locker has yet shown the ability to be a clutch qb.

And dont give me this crap he doesnt have enough time to throw the ball down field. Teams are daring us to throw it and they know he doesn't handle the rush well so teams are blitzing us like crazy!
