Titans tight end Delanie Walker said he’s praying for former 49ers teammate, and friend, Aldon Smith.

Smith is seeking treatment following his arrest last Friday for suspicion of driving under the influence. After Sunday’s loss to the Colts, Smith apologized. He’s now out indefinitely for the 49ers.

“He is just a young player, a young player who has a lot of money, and things like that occur. If he wasn’t a Pro Bowl linebacker, I don’t think people would be making a big deal out of it. But he is a Pro Bowl linebacker,’’ Walker said of Smith. “So a lot of stuff is being put on top of him. I pray for him because he is a good kid, he is just making some bad choices now.”

Earlier this month Smith and Walker were named in a lawsuit filed in California in which a man said he was shot at a party at Smith’s house last June. Smith and Walker were allegedly intoxicated on Smith’s balcony when they fired gunshots in the air while trying to end the party, the lawsuit claimed.

How does Delanie go out and say "not a big deal", isn't Delanie trying to change drinking laws in TN?

I have a friend who was recently caught drunk driving. I was with him that night. He came and got me and wanted to go to a specific bar because it had a parking lot and he could leave his car there without fear of tow or ticket. He was going hard and I was tired so I left. Just before leaving I told the waitress to make sure my friend took a cab.

Well, from what I hear, they tried to get him into a cab. But he drove anyway and they called the cops with his plate number. Cops were waiting when he got home. My friend did not remember much from the night before. I told him I left and what I said is probably the reason they called the police. My friend was not mad, he is grateful he did not do any serious damage and is using the experience as a learning opportunity.

Delaine, you need to do more than "pray" for your friend. You should encourage him to learn from his mistake and be grateful no serious damage was done. And use this as a learning experience.

I really do hope that Delanie is choosing to stay away from some of these 'friends'

Drinking and driving is the dumbest ****. I have a good friend that doesn't know how to quit... It's just a matter of time

That is how my friend was. And what I told him the next day. Only a matter of time before something would happen and he is lucky that is all that happened.

Delanie Walker's aunt and uncle were killed by a drunk driver the night of the Super Bowl, so I'm surprised he's not making a bigger deal of this.

I think he may have been a little lazy in his choice of words, but there is a difference between that and what he said.
