I'm right there with you. I've never had season tix myself. In the early days because I simply couldn't afford them. Now, because I can think of about 100 better things to do with that money. I'm pretty conservative with my money so when I dish out $200+ for single-game tickets, another $50 or so for beer/concessions, $20 to park, another $20 or so in gas, plus deal with all that traffic JUST to watch my team lay down like they have done so many times the past few years.. well, I can't even begin to explain how much it pisses me off. So I just can't bring myself to commit to doing that 8 times per year, up front.

As you said, we've been a mediocre franchise for the most part. There have been some bright spots along the way. But it's really not even so much about season records. It's about how this franchise for so long just seemed content to sit back and collect the fans cash. All those years plugging along with Fisher there at the end when it was abundantly clear he had become too stubborn for his own good and the team wasn't responding to him anymore. Then we have a complete sham of a "new head coach search" and hire an in-house position coach.

This past offseason is honestly the first time in a long time I've felt we REALLY went out of our way to try to improve our team and make a run. And look what's happened. It's worked out pretty well so far despite two tough losses to good teams. I'm not saying we have to go out and spend $100 million every offseason. And I don't expect every season to be a winning one. But just show me that you're legitimately doing your best to win. And that goes for Bud all the way down to the 53rd man on the roster.

Attendance is dwindling across the country. The economy is picking up but ticket sales are down. Part of it HD. But the bottom line is that consumers are saying the game-day experience isn't worth the price of the tix.

    Reasons:

    1. Viewing game: nosebleed seats expensive, jumbo-trons help but why pay for that when you can watch it at home on a high def set that costs the same as 4 tix.
    2. Atmosphere: This is the key reason IMO that ticket sales are down. Used to be, you could yell, scream, razz other fans, get beer/alcohol, etc. NFL is a hormone driven entertainment industry. Guys like seeing big hits and big tits. Gals like seeing muscular athletes. The league is watering down that element of the product with their "policies". Those policies related to liability are understandable, but NFL football will NEVER sell as a docile family entertainment.
there are more but I've run out of time. I'll check back......

All that said, it isn't completely a Titans problem. It is an NFL problem as well. They have to do a better job with the gameday experience because it's just too tempting these days to sit on your couch and not have to fight traffic and watch the game on your 50" HDTV and drink your own beer that doesn't cost you $10 a pop.

Also lowering ticket prices would be fabulous but I don't see that ever happening. It shouldn't require the cost of a small vacation to take your family to a 3-hour football game and sit in decent seats.

People need to realize that when the Titans got here Tennessee was use to a college type atmosphere and that is exactly how people reacted. The Vols were on a decade long streak of dominance and people were excited about football. People were excited about the Titans. I think the Titans eventually priced the crazed fan out. Crazed fan then lost interest due to the mediocrity of this franchise.

LP was filled with 65,000 people who acted like they were in Neyland on a Saturday night. It was great. Sadly not what the NFL goes for.

They went straight to a Super Bowl their first season as the Titans, we got spoiled and expected that level of success year in and year out without realizing that is not how this Oiler/Titan franchise has ever functioned and without realizing how difficult it is to put together a championship caliber team in the NFL.

Also Nashville is a national city. There are a lot of transplants here from around the country. There will always be a diverse group of fans in this city. Sadly I think the franchise could be even bigger in the state and around the mid south with a bit of winning and marketing.

Good news though, this franchise has hit its 15 year mark. For the first time we have had a generation of fans that have grown up with this franchise. I'm one of them.

That is nothing. They pee on opposing fans in the restrooms in Buffalo. And tip them over in porta-potties outside the stadium. Every time I see someone with a kid there I feel I should call child welfare services.

The NFL would rather sale 50,000 tickets to well behaved fans with extra cash than 65,000 drunk fans at a better price who might damage the "shield" by having too much fun.

dang good thing I don't go there with my titans jersey, I don't want to be peed on. That definitely crosses the line, I would have thought about calling someone in that situation

    Totally agree.

Another thing that I think somewhat affects attendance, and it may sound silly, but.... fantasy. Like it or not, it's something that your average football fan cares about quite a bit these days. People like to watch other games nowadays that they otherwise wouldn't care about. People like to keep up with Stattracker on their laptop/tablet. Add on top of that the point you made about HDTVs and, well, paying through the nose for that game ticket is looking less and less attractive.

very excellent point here. The red zone channel and sunday ticket have revolutionized the nfl game day experience to being home and watching all the games. I think people take fantasy way to serious most of the times, I even catch myself getting way to into it.
