IDK about that, Titan fans are all too familiar with how hard it is to come by 1000-yards.

    I did siome research.

In 2012 20 players broke 1000 receiving yards.
In 2011 19 players broke 1000 receiving yards.
In 2010 17 players broke 1000 receiving yards.
In 2009 23 players broke 1000 receiving yards.
In 2008 22 players broke 1000 receiving yards.
In 2007 23 players broke 1000 receiving yards.
In 2006 19 players broke 1000 receiving yards.
In 2005 20 players broke 1000 receiving yards.
In 2004 24 players broke 1000 receiving yards.
In 2003 14 players broke 1000 receiving yards.
In 2002 22 players broke 1000 receiving yards.

So of these alleged 32 No.1 guys only 18 on average (56%) are doing what you're saying is common. Is 56% enough to be considered the standard? IDK

When I say number 1 WR I mean you are clearly the best WR and have broken a 1000 yards before and are capable of doing it again. Otherwise I wouldnt consider that guy to be a number 1 WR even if he is that respective teams number 1 WR. The reason being is that the team will always be looking to find a WR to take his spot.

Ok Im going to collect the names of every WR/TE to record 1000-yards receiving in the last 10 years. If I dont see 100 different names, 1000-yards is still a hell of an accomplishment.

I'm glad you have the time to do that. I'm interested to see how many have done it though

Another point is that if people think 1000 yards for a RB isn't that good anymore then its clearly the same for WR's b/c there were only 16 rbs last year to have over a 1000 yards rushing and there were 19 WR's to have over 1000 yards receiving. Boom goes the dynamite.

Things have changed. 1,000 yards for a Rb used to be the gold standard but at some point we started to see so many RB's do it that our standards have changed. Since most teams have moved to a running back by committe model now, it is increasingly rare for a RB to hit 1,000 because many of them are splitting carries. IMO if any time a RB get 1,000 yards he had a pretty good year with very good being 1100-1350 and 1350+ being elite. Things change a lot in the NFL.

That being said I think it is still harder for receivers to get 1,000+ yards than it is for a RB. Good QB's hit the open man, they don't try to force the ball to their #1 (unless it's megatron) so a lot of times the targets just aren't there. Not to mention what happens on run heavy teams with questionable QB's. 1,000 yards is just too high to be considered average, I'd call it pretty damn good.

Nice work Brave, but you got some TEs in there. Technically I wouldn't count those when discussing what is an above average "Wide Receiver".

So no bashing CJ when he gets over a 1000 yards yet again.
