There is so much gray area here a court appointed lawyer could have you walking before anyone knew you were gone.

From what we have seen of Incognito, which is just a sample, he clearly went way over the line.

At the end of the day Incognito will no longer be playing in the NFL and the dolphins are in a nightmare situation because of all of this. Glad this happened to them and not to us lol.

Anyone here stop to think that Incognito singled Martin out precisely because he knew Martin wouldn't fight back? It's come out that many people knew Martin suffered from emotional issues. This issue is black and white. Bullies may be a-holes but they're not dumb. Bullies specifically target people they see as weak and easy targets. This is exactly what happened here.

Also in my opinion this whole "fight the bully and he'll go away" mentality must be the result of too many movies. I won't deny that in some cases showing yourself to not be an easy mark may discourage lesser bullies but the truly cruel bullies that have birthed this anti-bullying crusade do not back down when confronted, in fact the violence tends to escalate. Someone with the psychological make up of Richie Incognito is not going to take public embarrassment very well. You gotta be a tougher than average S.O.B to take on a guy like that knowing what could result. Very few people who are inferring or out-right calling Martin a "soft" coward wouldn't have had the balls to step up to Incognito themselves and that's a fact.

In short I realize that our very PC culture has given rise to an anti-PC counter culture that longs for the "good 'ole days" when the boys will be boys mentality was accepted but this anti-bullying stuff is legit. We know that human beings can be very cruel towards each other and likely will always try to be but that doesn't mean that we can't reduce it's prevalence. It's just like we know that some people will always feel the desire or need to kill others, but we still have laws against murder and protections available to society to try and prevent it. It's our duty as a society to protect the weak from the predators, regardless of how much American society is disgusted by the idea of weakness.

I assumed as much actually :)

I do not think American society as disgusted by the idea of weakness. I think people are just, as you said, more upset at the overly PC culture. I think if most people were able to see what Incognito was doing they would be disgusted by it.

Yeah. A few times growing up, I'd see kids watch a few too many after school specials and stand up to a bully and end up getting their orbital shattered or their collarbone broken or getting KTFO, then robbed.

You may be right. The weakness thing is just something I've noticed growing up particularly as a male. It's always seemed to me that being perceived as weak or seeing weakness in others is something that seems to disgust men. When things like this crop up no matter how obviously wrong the perpetrator is some people will always look to the victim and basically be upset with that person for allowing themselves to be victimized. I wouldn't say it's something that is unique to American culture and I only mention America because it's all I really know.

Btw, this anti-bullying campaign is actually working. I've worked in a high school for over 5 years and from what I've seen it's become less and less "cool" to bully or be seen as a bully or hot-head. I can only hope this is a trend that continues.

Standing up to bullies is nice in a perfect world, but most bullies will not pick on someone who is capable of kicking his/her ass. Cheap shots FTW in that case.
