I was really impressed with him when I saw him in the combine. Really smooth in his breaks and had good hands to boot. As a matter of fact I was more impressed with him than I was with Kendall in the combine.

Found a couple things online about Devon Wylie i put them below.Wonder if we might've found a diamond in the rough.I do think maybe the team has him in mind to do some things with returning kicks.I like what i've read and i'd be very happy if this player was similar to Mariani in the return game.

Wylie, the Chiefs’ fourth-round draft pick from Fresno State, was selected with the hope he could help ignite the club’s kick-return game, and he nearly broke a punt return in the preseason opener against Arizona. He fielded one punt against the Cardinals and went 32 yards, setting up a third-quarter field goal. It was his only punt return of the game. Wylie ranked fifth in the nation with an average of 15.4-yard per punt return last season, including two touchdowns.

Explosive athlete — outstanding timed speed and leaping ability (39-inch vertical). Jets off the line — smooth, instant accelerator. Quick-footed and loose-hipped with twitch to separate. Fluid in and out of cuts. Good body control and hand-eye coordination to adjust to throws. Competes in traffic. Dangerous after the catch — can turn a short throw into a long gain. Jukes tacklers in space and can create some magic by stringing moves together. Impact punt returner (see Nebraska, Boise State) — shows vision, traffic burst and elusiveness. Has slot and “gunner” experience. Takes care of his body.

I'd like nothing more than to see Wylie seize the return job and be able to do some of the things Mariani was able to in his time here.I think the guy has great potential and hopefully there isn't much rust there considering he hasn't played much lately.

    Thanks Mike!

Looks like we could see him on the full roster by the end of the year. Not only can he return but can cover punt returns too.

I would much prefer we keep Damian Williams at returner, unlike Devon Wylie Williams can contribute on offense.

Devon Wylie was cut by the Chiefs, passed over by both the Steelers and Cardinals this preseason. He's nothing special.

You might be right but keep in mind that all three of those teams were more than set at returner. MCcluster is regarded as one of the most explosive players in the game and Patrick Peterson is a dynamite returner in addition to being one of the most overall physically gifted corner/athletes in the league. Kinda hard to beat out either of those two guys for a return job in preseason. In the NFL one man's trash often turns out be another man's treasure.

Just because you're passed on by multiple teams doesn't mean you aren't special.

There have been a lot of undrafted players who do well in the league and many players who bounced around for a long time until they began to dominate with one team.

Not saying this guy will be any good, but it sounds like he has a lot of potential.

Im not writing him off as a scrub, Im just okay sticking with Damian Williams. I trust Williams knows what he's doing back there. IDK anything really about this Wylie guy.

He had a hard time staying healthy in college, but when he did get his opportunities he did well. He can not be any worse than what we have put on the field so far. But if your gunners continue to block guys in the back right into the returner anyone would have problems.
