Just curious about what the opinions are on this.As far as i'm concerned i do think it is his job to make sure the team is ready to play and not overlooking the opponent. In the first quarter after the first turnover he should've been jumping all over the players to turn the game around.Getting fired up does help motivate the players sometimes especially when they need a spark or are behind.

I think it helps if the coach does attempt to motivate the team, but I don't think he's fully responsible to do it. if anything he needs to remind them of the game plan for the game.

If a grown ass man can't motivate himself for a game he's about to play, he doesn't need to play football yet alone in the NFL. Guys in the league do their own thing to motivate themselves before games.

The players also won't throw their coach under the proverbial bus.

Motivation is as important as strategy and scheming. You need to excel in both areas.

Which coach's pregame speech would you rather send our players out with? Munchaks or Gregg Williams? The answer is obvious.

Three straight years this team has lost to the worst team in the league. We've had two different offensive coordinators and added Gregg Williams for defensive input. Two different QBs. Several additions that were supposed to be Munch's guys.

The constant is Mike Munchak. It might not be his fault or his responsibility to motivate the team, but he's the constant and in the end he's the captain that's going to go down with the ship.

I said from the very beginning his sideline demeanor was awful. He looks lost or confused most of the time.I think he was in over his head from the get go.He does not have what it takes to be a head coach. He is a good position coach but not anything above that.

Yes, that responsibility (motivation) falls on the coach. To be ready and prepared to play.
