Carpenter's The Thing is one of my all-time favorites. And I mean movies in general. Not just horror.

I gave this one a second watch over the weekend and I have to saw this flick may be headed towards cult classic if folks can get past the name and give er a watch.
A fun, twisted mix of Repo Man (the old one yup), Near Dark and wee slice of Brain Dead..

Havn't got into scary movies in a few years.

The two attributes that make them entertaining to me are mystery and general excitement.

The newer movies just two one of two things; they either give cheap thrills (PA movies).

Or they just keep trying to top themselves on the "that's f**cked up" factor. (Texas Chainsaw, Saw, Human Centipede).

Neither are very entertaining to me. The latest "scary" movie I enjoyed was Shutter Island. Enough thrills to keep you interested, enough "that's f**cked up" to keep you tense, but there was a plot other than "Let's see how we can top this f**cked up" ala the SAW movies.

    Catching up now...
Oct 9. Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things
The second greatest early living dead flick - and is the first to do it in full color.. This one "should" get as many nods as Night of The Living Dead, but rarely does..
Crappy trailer - but great flick..

    Oct. 11. Bram Stoker's Dracula

Horrid performances by Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryde are rectified by a stellar job put in by Gary Oldman as The Count..

Whoops I meant to reply to a post in the movie thread but oh well. Still, the Revenant is a quality flick.
