The decision to keep munch or not has probably already been made. This game I don't think will weigh too heavily on the organizations decision with him

It is odd to say or even suggest that you know Munch would have been fired if he hadnt won one game last year because he wasn't brought back because he won the last game of the season so all is good. He was brought back because the team was decimated by injuries which ruins most teams seasons who don't have a Hall of Fame head coach. When nearly your entire OL and QB are out, it's very hard to win. So I disagree with your assertion that one win saved Munchak's job.

I also don't think this one game will matter either way. Again, we are without our starting QB for most of the season and our record is below .500. On the other hand, the team did very well WITH Locker at the helm and has not quit despite being knocked out of the playoffs. So for all the posters who want Munch fired, it doesn't look like the players agree with you as they are playing hard....unlike some teams. They know his job is on the line and are playing like they want to save it.

This is not an endorsement, just an observation.

I kinda hope Munch just says "eff it" and goes air raid on the cows. Send the receivers deep all day. Try to run up the score and really be a richard about it.

Of course, that would just result in five Fitz picks and a loss, but I hope we lose anyway.

Sure. But isn't it also possible that a HC can be well-liked/respected by the locker room while also not being the best/right man for the job? I don't see why the two should be mutually exclusive.

Personally, I would view the fact that the team has performed so poorly these past two seasons, despite supposedly liking Munchak so much, as a rather significant indictment on his head coaching ability. You simply can't put it all on injuries, at least IMO.

One of the things you find in football is that while players may respect a coach, they won't play hard in a no win situation (meaning can't make the playoffs). So when you say you don't think the HC is the right guy for the job, the players play on the field will tell you what they think. And believe me, the players don't want to play for a guy they don't think can get them to the playoffs no matter how much they like or respect him. They will play and fight for the coach they think will get them there.

Well, there are several factors beyond just injuries which contributed to our losses but losing your starting QB for almost half the games the last 2 seasons is a bad start. Add in losing almost the whole OL last year and you have the makings of a disaster. Add on to that that it's your starting QB's FIRST year starting and you can almost guarantee a losing season. Sometimes just one of the above can derail a season.

So the QB thing happened again this season. I don't know about you, but we had several winnable games on offense which I heard Fitz explaining...I played poorly, I made a bad throw, I made a bad read, I didn't see the guy, I messed up the protection so I got hit when I threw so it got picked...game over. And that's a vet QB making mistake after mistake after mistake with no one else available to play instead. They also adjusted the offense to what he is MOST comfortable with and does best...as a coach should. What else can you do? They wanted to play more Greene early at RB but he was hurt...another injury. Walker was hurt too and that hurt our pass and run games.

And I havent even talked about the games the defense played poorly at the end.

Or the surprising number of special teams mistakes that killed us or put our D in a terrible position.

There is plenty of blame to go around, but what coaches do you think would have done much better? And really, we didn't have significant injuries on D AND we had Gregg Williams on staff who by all accounts is a good DC and yet our defense has gotten pummeled by some less then excellent offenses.

Then people turn around and want to keep Williams?

I don't hate munch, I have respect for him as a player and oline coach but I do not want him to be our HC. 3 years is a good trial period I think and is fair for the most part. As for next year we need more creativity on offense, new OC for sure.

    Wow....

Just saw that ESPN article, I agree that scouting makes a big difference, more than the specific number, but I'd much rather pick in the top 10 than 16th - especially b/c top QBs tend to fly off early (and I really hope we get one).

If we don't go with QB in the top 10, we can perhaps trade down and net that lost 3rd round pick or even 2nd rounder if the demand is there. Sure 10 to 16 isn't a big difference, but if Rus works his magic and gets that pick he traded for Hunter, that would be excellent and well worth the loss (ESPECIALLY if it gets rid of Munch and Co.)

C'mon PK, I put this in another thread on Tuesday. Quit reading my posts and claiming they are yours :)

But for real, I hope Houston beats us. 9th or 10th is 10x better than 16th. Hopefully we get #9 or #10 and trade back to #16 and pickup a 3rd back.

Since I am going to the game. I would like to get the win. Its not like we are talking about difference in the 1-5 picks. I say play to win. IF we win. Great. If not, thats ok too b/c of the draft. I personally never want to go into a game wishing my team to lose unless I was trying to get the 1st overall pick.
