With a new head coach coming, should we legitimately be looking at the possibility of drafting another QB in round 1? We can assume baring any major event, Bridgewater, Manziel, and probably Bortles will be gone. QB always drop when push comes to shove in the draft. I think Carr might fall to us. What does everyone think about him? Anyone jump into first like Mettenberger if he has a strong pro day when coming back from torn ACL? I do not know enough about Carr right now to form an opinion, but gotta say he has a great resource in his brother to learn from, that has to help him quite a bit.

    Here's my view.

Round 1 - I predict that Bridgewater, Bortles, Carr, & Manziel will already be taken by #11. I do not forsee us trading up, as we already don't have a 3rd round pick. I also do not see another QB sneaking into the first round. Trade back, fallen defensive stud, or OT in round 1. The 5 teams before us looking at QB: HOU, JAX, CLE, OAK, and MIN. So one team gets screwed and also waits until the 2nd round... which leads me to

Round 2 - One other team is looking QB. Which means we'll be able to pickup the 5th or 6th QB on everyones board. Right now, i'm not sure who that is - my guesses it's between: Brett Smith, David Fales, Zach Mettenberger, AJ McCarron, Jimmy Garoppolo, Tajh Boyd, and Aaron Murray. Out of those 7 QBs is our future QB, we have to find out which.

Without a 3rd, we can't wait until the 4th round to find our QB. Locker can't stay healthy and there is no better FA QBs available. It's draft a QB or bust.

I really think Murray and Mettenberger will fall because of the acl injuries, 3rd (which I know we don't have) and later I could see them being drafted. I will be very surprised if they go in the second when Brett Smith and Jimmy Garoppolo getting hype.

Take McCarron out of second round talks for us.

Fales or 'Berger in the 2nd would be fine with me.

If you like the good things about locker... You'll like Fales. Probably not as strong of an arm or the extended use of legs... But imagine locker as a pocket passer (with his ability to avoid the rush, work the pocket) and without nearly the accuracy issues. Very similar on the move passing ability as well.

Ive always liked Tajh Boyd, only worry I have is how easy alot of his throws are. Alot of dumboffs and screens. I believe he can make all the throws, but really want to see him in the combine and such.

I've kinda liked Boyd as well... And I like what he brings to the team mentality wise.

The question I have with him is can he run a pro style offense. He's going to be playing in the senior bowl so that's what I'm going to be looking strongly at.

He's a second round or later guy.

    Very McNair...

I think the most obvious comparison would be Russell Wilson. Boyd brings athletic ability, accurate arm, & leadership. Id be happy with it.

I don't think it's a good comparison considering their actual game tho.

Wilson was running a pro offense under center in college and was very technical. Can run but uses his arm effectively first. Very Accurate

Boyd while similar build plays way different. Run first often. QB designed runs. Mildly accurate.

I'll be interested in seeing his senior bowl style and see if they can make him effective run a pro style O.
