As we start to get closer to the draft the QB class is not looking as special as we might have thought:
    • Teddy Bridgewater: Looks good, but not great. Not as great as Luck and Newton before him
    • Johnny Manziel: Ability good, but not great. Character is a major concern
    • Blake Bortles: Big kid, strong arm, poor footwork, iffy accuracy -- sound familiar?
    • Derek Carr: Plays poorly when pressured
Someone who is not getting much attention but probably will coming up is Jimmy Garappolo of Eastern Illinois:

Without even know anything further we can already spot the biggest negative. That he went to an FCS school. We can point to QBs from FCS/1-AA schools that have done well in the NFL--Kurt Warner, Joe Flacco, Tony Romo, Steve McNair. However the vast majority of successful NFL QBs have come from power conferences at the FBS level.

There are some things that make this FBS QB very intriguing:
    • Amazing release and excellent accuracy (Both needed to be successful in the NFL)
    • Started 3.5 years, lots of experience
    • Helped turn a perennial loser into a power at their level
All 32 teams have taken the time to go out and scout Garappolo. Do not be shocked if he sneaks up past some bigger named QBs much like Joe Flacco did.

Playing in the shrine game this week btw. Today's the first day of practice. Jeff Mathews was said to have looked the best out of the bunch including jimmy G.

I've been talking about Jimmy for a while. My college is in the same division as EIU, i've actually met him a couple times (had a friend on EIU football). Super nice dude, really relaxed, all he does is football football football.

Anyways, I've been wanting Jimmy with our 2nd. But was waiting to see what he did at the shrine game before I started talking him up more.

Yeah, he does say the right things. Looks like he really loves the game and is a strong leader. Who knows, may not be available when we pick in the second.

The way the NFL has been lately (except last year) we could see as many as six.

Lol. No. Unless there are 4 teams that waste a first round pick.

Oh I agree. But it happens lol

Teams get desperate. Look at the Bills last year. Or the Browns a couple years ago.
