So, what I'm saying is this.. there is a weak side inside linebacker (WILB) and a strong side inside linebacker (SILB) in a 3-4 defense. The strong side is more of your stack and shed guy and since teams run it to the strong side most often, the OL is peeling up to the SILB more while the WILB still has to stack and shed, it isn't normally as much as the SILB. Trey DePriest played the Tide's SILB position, while Mosley played the WILB (when in a 3-4 alignment). This allowed Mosley to do what he does best in flow to the football more freely (not free, but more than the SILB) while DePriest had to stack and shed blockers a lot more. What I'm trying to say is that Mosley isn't a guy who can consistently play the type of position that DePriest (or Rolando McClain has in the past) where they have to stack and shed more. He would be a much better fit at WILB. Problem with that is that is going to be what Zach Brown or Zavier Gooden will be best at too, because both of them are athletic but struggle to stack and shed as well. So, if we draft Mosley at 11, we will have three guys who fit the WILB position much better than the SILB position. The reason Te'o became more effective for the Chargers as the season wore on is because they switched him and Donald Butler. Butler started out as the WILB, but since Te'o couldn't shed blocks effectively, they switched them and moved Te'o to WILB where he wouldn't have to take on blockers AS much. That's what, IMO, hindered Butler's play a little bit this year too outside of injuries. I hope that makes sense.. sorry about that.

Knew he'd be slow, didn't think he'd be that slow though. I'll never rule out a LB with a slow 40 after Brandon Spikes made me eat my words though. This just means we can have him in the 5th or later :)

Really? makes what he did at UConn that much more impressive. Runs a 5.00 and can cover receivers.

Agree, immediately the first player that comes to mind is Jerry Rice. Rice ran 4.71 but on the field his game speed was incredible. He always seemed like he was the fastest player on the field.

Blah, walterfootball added a note after I posted that Smallwood pulled up injured during his 40. We'll have to wait and see just how slow he is.
