Watching game tape is essentially watching stats happen. There you have it, folks.

I'm not going to sit here and argue with you. Saying stats don't matter is asinine and backing it up by bringing up some obscure outlier of a stat about a Hawaii QB years ago does nothing to prove your point. I can think of a thousand reasons why stats matter. Sure there are going to be players who under perform in college and perform well in the NFL and vice versa but for every guy that sucked in college and blew up in the league they're 100 successful NFL players who also had successful college careers. That's how they got noticed by being successful and putting up above average stats that makes them stand out amongst the rest.

I'm sure you are going to bring up a couple spread QB's who failed and think those examples serve as the end all be all

Brought to you by the guy who said watching tape is essentially watching stats happen.

I'll be sure to just look at the stats of next year's QBs because that will tell me everything about their mechanics, the type of throws they made, their delivery, arm strength and accuracy.

    Good night, everyone.

Stats are pointless. Say it out loud. You might realize how dumb it sounds. To take stats out of the equation of evaluating someone would be retarded.

Sorry, I can't argue any more, I have some stats I have to go watch.

Nice topic change. It's a common mechanism used by people who know they are wrong. I owe that to my GF whose a behavioral psychologist.

Probably wanted VY around cause he won games right? The *** cares about his stats when we're Charlie Sheening on teams.

I just can't get behind the college stats argument.

He's accurate because he completed 69% of his passes. Uh, yeah, too bad about 15 of them per game are within three yards of the line of scrimmage. I broke down a handful of his games in a different thread and saw that. You know, watching stats happen.

I see that he's had two LTs that will be top picks and then a RT that will be a second round pick(at worst) next season and gets crazy good protection. When his crazy good protection breaks down just a little he takes off, runs in a circle or throws the ball up for grabs. You can't see that by looking at the stats.

His mechanics are terrible. His footwork is all over the place. When he tries to put extra velocity on throws he winds up like a pitcher, kicks his front leg out and throws with his shoulders instead of generating power from his hips and he drives the ball low. Can't see that looking at the stats.

He's an electric college football player. Stats tell me that. They don't tell me how his game translates to the NFL and what kind of pro he'll be.

Not a hard concept to understand.

The team that takes this guy in the first round has a 90% chance of getting hoodwinked.

My break down from the other thread. I should have just looked at the box score instead.

Good work Fry. I would MAYBE and I mean MAYBE look at him in the 2nd if a coach thinks he can fix him with coaching, but otherwise I agree with Jaws. If he's there in the 3rd with a qb needy team he would definitely be worth the risk. I just don't see him being a very good NFL QB and I hope the Titans stay FAR away from him.

I really hope the Texans or Jaguars draft Manziel in Rd.1.
I also hope we draft either Jimmy G or Aaron Murray in Rd. 2 or 4.
