I posted a great article that broke down Whiz's stack formation Offense. It didn't belong. I wanted to make at thread for us to discuss it some more. Here is the article:

    My take aways are:

    • We most likely won't be drafting a TE as Walker seems sufficient enough
    • Our Oline will improve not only from a year to gel and rookies growing, but Whiz dumbs down the oline
    • We wont be drafting a Calvin Johnson WR or an early one at that.
    • We most likely will draft a good slot guy in later rounds to eventually take over Wrights position as he takes over Washingtons
    • Wright and Washington will excel in this style of system
    • Jake has some serious work to do not only to stay healthy but to be able to read defenses, go through 3 to 4 reads and release the ball in 3 seconds of the snap
    • I really think we are drafting a QB in the later rounds that may have weaknesses, but his strengths lie with Whiz's offensive style
    • McCluster will be HUGE in our system to keep the D honest (This was obvious)
    • A late RB needs to be a jack of all trades at best. I speculate if it's that big a problem as most people make it out to be
So with that said, a lot of our pieces are there with QB being the number 1 concern at this point. Behind it, looking at the team as a whole, defense strikes me as the most important need. I wouldn't be surprised with two defensive picks in rounds 1 and 2. QB in Round 4 perhaps.
    What do you all think?

The protection scheme is a clincher for Whisenhunt's offenses. Forcing the ball out so quick keeps everyone blocking fresh to plow over guys later in the series after theyve been spun around 9-10 times. Its part of why I feel good about Jake surviving the duration of the season.
    • Jake stays clean
    • We dont ask Chance Warmack to have to be all that in pass-pro
    • RBBC will go a long ways in this offense

Jake gets hurt on this weirdest plays. It's the hits that don't even look bad that get him.

That was only for his foot injury. That slide, the JJ Watt hit, and the Patriots game tackle all looked pretty bad in my opinion.

This scheme keeps him healthy so that is a plus

Patriots game didn't look bad at all. The hip injury last year didn't look bad either. The only hit that looked bad was the one he took against the texans.

I was going to respond after your other post, but starting a new thread is a good idea. The 3 second release is what worries me. It seems to me like Locker is at his best when hold on to the ball, uses his agility, and lets the play develop down field. I don't know if he can handle quick reads.

I'm ok drafting a late round QB, but I fear that we might have a repeat of the failed QB circus that Whiz had in Arizona. While I like this offensive scheme, it's definitely not right for everyone. From what I read in the past, Whiz's downfall is that he doesn't adjust his scheme to his personnel. He tries to fit everyone into his system. I would much rather test out Locker and if he fails, daft a top quality QB and implement a system that showcases that QB's strengths.

I enjoyed that link Two Kings.

I have no reason to believe that this won't be a large part of our offense. I think we will have a nice pass attack this year with this system and our current WR corps.
We're in for some fun, win or lose.

I can see Hunter and Nate up on the line with Wright and McCluster stacked behind. DB's and LB's won't be able to match their shifts to one side or the other. Only takes a second or two in space while the defender is playing catch up to get the ball and make a play.

    Wright
    McCluster
    Washington
    Hunter

Everyone on this board agrees that Locker is a smart kid. He"should" be able to adjust to a faster game. Plus he will also see the advantage in not running for your life every other play. My fingers are crossed. This could be exactly what Locker needs to finally have a good year.

Whats cool is Charger fans predicted Philip Rivers hits 70% completion rate, then he went out and put up a career best 69.5% with Whiz calling the plays. No wonder Tommy Smith is so giddy with excitement.

Crossing routes with quick timing.... Not lockers forte

Sounds to me we are drafting Carr
