This is exactly what seems to have happened. I said from the beginning that the Browns wouldn't put up a laughable offer because they were serious about acquiring Manziel and Loggains' statement seems to confirm that. Webster downplayed the seriousness of the offer to make it seem like nothing was lost. I doubt the Browns would offer anything less than swapping 1sts and giving up a 3rd. Then again, Webster probably thought he could get a 2nd, and if he could have pulled such a trade off he'd be a hero around here so it's hard ti be pissed at him for trying. Either way we ended up with a top 8 talent at pick 11, things could've gone much much worse.

 

You guys are reading too much into the words he is using. There was talk between the two teams. Nothing happened, regardless of the terminology he used.
There is no conspiracy here.

 

Giving up a 4th, in Webster's eyes, may not have been legitimately "an offer". All is subjective, which doesn't matter to this point. Move on

 

Maybe others are saying it's a conspiracy. I'm not. I'm just saying Webster may be at fault for not getting a deal done. We don't know what was said and probably never will. But a better negotiator may have been able to close the deal.

That's all I'm saying.
