There is no evidence whatsoever that the Colts tanked to get Luck. They won two of their last three games, for pete's sake.

That said, if Locker gets hurt in Week 1, I wouldn't mind the Titans playing Whitehurst for the year and ensuring they get that No. 1 spot.

I'm with you. I like Locker but don't love him. I'm ready to know what he is or isnt. 2014 is big year for fans.

Here is something that also scares me.

Lets say Locker does stay healthy this season. He plays solid and maybe we even have a winning season. Then, we pay him a whole new contract for 3 to 5 years, only to have him get hurt the year after and stay hurt every year after. The guy is Mr Glass. And should he get lucky and stay healthy one season (of course it being his Contract year), it only pushed the program back that many more years.

Look at what Vick did to the Eagles, he came out in his Contract year in 2010 and killed it. Amazing numbers, made them look legit. Then they pay him a big contract, and spend a bunch in FA in 2011 only to have him get hurt and them finished with a losing season, he then continues to stay hurt off and on through 2012 & 2013, and only because they landed a solid rookie in Nick Foles in 2012 and allowed him to sit one season did he come into his own. What if the Eagles had not had the Vick situation and could have drafted a QB in 2011 draft? Colin Kap could be an Eagle right now.

If you look, there IS evidence at the end of the season after they won their 2nd game, they were letting backups play the majority of the games. They had no plan to try and win more then 2 games or they wouldnt have been 1st overall.

I think they did blow the season to secure the #1 pick, but even what youre saying can be spun in a way that suggests thats not the case.

One thing, if he's so frail as youre saying, why doesn't he re-injure all these injuries year after year?

Tons of teams play backups at the end of the season to get a look at them. That's not evidence of deliberate tanking to get the No. 1 overall pick. That's just smart football roster management.

Tanking and giving up on a season near the end are two very different things. Tanking is a whole-season undertaking.

Thats what I was hinting at above, but come on man, you really dont think they tanked on purpose? Who goes into a season with Curtis Painter as QB? They saw the year before Luck would become the eventual #1 player in 2012 and they saw the closest thing to the second coming of Manning so they did what they had to do to ensure they got Luck.

After beating us and the Cows week-16 they got scared St Louis would beat them for the top pick, so they threw the last game. And dont try saying they were seeing what they had for next year, they played Dan Orlovsky. You telling me they dont know what Orlovsky is after being in the league so long and never playing...

Donald brown all year played his heart out, but the last game he sucked!! He played half speed, he's not dumb, he saw Irsay wink during the pregame.

I don't believe the Colts tanked on purpose, no. All the coaches and the GM were fired. Why would anyone intentionally ruin his own coaching career just to help out his successor?

If the coaches got to keep their jobs, then I would believe it.

Not trying their hardest to win in Week 17 =/= tanking. Don't confuse the two.

LOTS of teams don't try hard in Week 17, including playoff teams.
