I still remember that summer I stumbled into NFL 2K5 for $30 new when it came out. It felt so complete, polished, as if it was ahead of it's time.

Then EA said screw competition and bought the NFL licensing. Are we ever going to an alternative to Madden? Don't get me wrong, it's definitely gotten better but competition is always good for the consumer.

That said, same question about NHL?

I hope we someday get to see another quality alternative to Madden. Madden25 isn't bad but there were several years EA screwed the game up.. I've liked all the 2k sports games I've ever played....

I had NFL2K and 2K1 for the Dreamcast but aside from that I've always been a Madden guy. Madden apparently thrived on the competition though because their product fell off big time almost as soon as they snatched up the exclusive license. Last year was the first time I did not buy Madden since 2002. I'll get it this year though just because I'm jonesing for a football game.

I don't really play other sports games much but I did buy NBA2K12 when it came out and I thought it absolutely put the Madden games to shame, particularly with the career mode. And I'm nowhere near as big of a basketball fan as I am a football fan.

Competition is always a good thing. Unfortunately EA knows that the people are going to flock to the only NFL game available regardless of how terrible it is or how little effort they put into it.

My roommate recently purchased an xbox-one and it came with Madden '15. I have a XB1, but never purchased Madden for the new-gen based off bad reviews. The game isn't awful, but def has it flaws. Running is so hard, there's SOOO many times where the animations on a tackle are just laughable. I find it impossible to cut up field when running side-to-side. The interface is slow and lags, plus i've bene kicked out of muliple games when Madden just crashes?

EA focuses to much time on BS game modes like Ultimate team instead of focusing on making the game more smooth.

With all that said, i'll probably buy Madden 16. The game is still fun, just not realistic. Plus, i'm excited to use Mariota haha

Yeah, it's like they always trot out some "hot new" feature/mode rather than fix the gameplay issues that Madden fans have been complaining about for YEARS AND YEARS.

And like I said I didn't play it last year so I can't speak to that one, but IMO they absolutely butchered the franchise mode with that "connected career" bs. Franchise has always been my favorite mode and where I spend 98% of my time when playing Madden and it's just been getting steadily worse and more stale ever since they got the exclusive license.

Anyone know if there's a new community file with Mariota as the Titans QB? I looked and tried 2 but neither had Mariota in there with us..

You guys want a better Madden game then stop buying it. Annually forking over your $63 does nothing but support a ****** game.

I did read they were supposedly going to fix the horrible clunky interface that came with "connected career".

I'm amazed how broken they made franchise play with connected career, that along with the overall staleness and I've barely touched a madden game in 3 years (and it's not like I don't play ****loads of video games).

What always astonished me most is that there isn't a button that list the superbowl champions and scores of the franchise (at least there hasn't been for years, I feel like maybe in the early 2000s there was). Back in 1994 I could play Football Pro and it kept detailed statistical records of seasons and player stats.

I had Madden 25 for XB1, and it blew. 15 is a significant upgrade, but as you said not without it's flaws. The one that annoys me the most is when finishing a connected career (where I spend most my time too) and loading back to the menu screens, it'll freeze and I loose that game I played. Have to hold the power button and do a hard reset, then replay that game. It happens far too often for a game in 2015. It is my largest complaint.

As for the BS game modes, I agree but many others don't. Tons of people didn't but NHL 15 because they removed a couple game modes, yet it's the best NHL game to date IMO. Again, I only really play franchise mode so the lack of other modes doesn't bother me, but many others were pissed.

I was going to skip both this year and keep 15 of each title, but with the massive overhaul the Titans' roster has seen, I'd like to have the current team so I'm thinking of picking up Madden and keeping NHL 15 for an extra year.

I do hope one day Madden sees a competitor though, I think it would be that much better for the consumer.

Honestly the Titan offensive additions is the main reason I'm even interested in buying Madden this year.
