Thinking about buying one these things as an all-in-one camera/camcorder for the family. Never owned one and hardly use a camera in the first place, but will more often since the wife and I will be expecting our first child in the coming months. We're so bad about taking pictures in the first place. I guess we're so busy living in the moment so we don't really think about it.

Does anyone have one and would like to share their experience with it? I have my choice narrowed down to the Hero4 Silver model since it has the LCD screen made into it. Thanks for any input.

    I have a Hero4.
It does some things wonderfully - other stuff not so much.
Outstanding compatibility with an vast array peripherals (that tend to cost a lot) but usage menus and operation can be bafflingly stupid.
There is also at least some level of fish-eye to everything you shoot.

I shot these time-lapses with GoPro last year. For this purpose it works fantastic - controllable by iPhone, which in many cases is better camera itself..

I've had 4 or 5 over my time. Mostly used for scuba diving but think it's totally worth getting. I would go with the silver as well.

I'm in the market for a camcorder too. The "fisheye" Cruds mentioned is the main thing stopping me from going the GoPro route. I think I'm probably going to just go with a low-end Sony HD camera or something along those lines.

You can buy high quality adaptable lenses that cord/plugs into an iPhone.
iPhone app controls and all you have to do is point the lens.
There are a bunch now and they shoot nice footage..

Just got a Panasonic G7. It's a pretty impressive camera for the price. Shoots 4K video better than anything else I could afford. Nice stills, too. I'd go that route over a GoPro.

Not right now, but that's not really the point. In post, it's much easier to crop, correct, and grade using 4K and not loose anything (or anything noticeable) when outputting to 1080p. Shots look better without degradation. Plus, just viewing the raw video looks better when shot in 4K.

Do you know if the latest versions of Premier etc accommodate 4K?
