The following article by Eagles writer Sheil Kapadia explains why acquiring a certain type of CB is a must at this day in age.
Quarterbacks' quicker releases a product of subpar protection - NFL Nation- ESPN

Basically what the lengthy article goes on to say is nowadays you shouldn't be counting on your offensive line as much as before simply because the talented players that used to be future NFL linemen are choosing to be defensive players instead because its a more fun and rewarding job in football.

The Titans have invested tons of time and resources in the line, and time after time have had their asses handed to them because they're inferior to the guys theyre playing. What we should do is stop relying on that old school 5-step, 7-step drop back stuff and spread it out. Thats Mariota and roughly 20 other starting QB's in the NFL are doing best, why hinder him having him not do the very thing that got him picked 2nd overall?

Fact of the matter is everyone is adjusting to superior pass rushes by getting the ball out faster vs asking their linemen to holdup because you're now putting the ball in the hands of your best playmaker (the QB).

Once you have one of these precious QB's you go from checkers to chess and begin looking ahead on the board vs only seeing whats immediately in front of you. This is why taking a Tackle (Tunsil) 1st is silly, and why taking what would be our 4th pass rusher silly also(Bosa).

What we're now ready for is a premier CB type who takes away the layups Brady and Dalton pick the league apart with. McCourty isnt that guy, he's better suited playing teams 2nd target, and Cox is too inconsistent to count on, our No1&No.2 CB's are both No.2's or 3's...

Yes. This will help out our defense out big time. Give opponents more 3 & outs so Mariota & Co. get more opportunities on the field.

I would love to land Ramsey no matter what spot we are in.....Hell, even if we trade back and take Hargraves. If we grabbed him, and a Safety, INSTANT solid secondary.

Ramsey is your prototype CB, he deserves to be #1 if we stay there, I want this drafts best player more than I do an extra draft pick down the line

Yeah...I agree. I think by taking Ramsey, you get a playmaker, fill a need, and C block Jacksonville from grabbing him in your own division. On the flip side, you take a guy like Bosa, and her can rush Bortles twice a year too.

we have 3 stud pass rushers already, and we dont need another (although you cant have too many) but we have holes on the back end at CB we can fill with a beast of a prospect..

I see the logic, but I doubt we do this. My money that we take Tunsil with the firs pick--right or wrong.

Free agency will be telling of our intentions come the draft. Im personally hoping we secure a new Tackle so we dont have to waste our pick on someone that cant score points.. 1st overall player is someone you should be able to get points out of..

and the entire premise of that article is to stop relying on the entire 5-man line and worry about the QB running the show

building up the line, running game and defense is a good formula for those poor suckers without QB's, but we have the QB part down.. we're ready for Algebra 102

We are desperate for some playmakers....and especially someone that can stop the bleeding in the secondary. We have been thrown on the past 5 years. We are terrible. at least we have Orakpo and Morgan in the front 7 (can always use pass rush) but we have NOBODY at CB/S worth a damn.

You disregard the fact that QBs averaged 4.6 seconds to throw against the Titans. We aren't taking about Brady's 2.5, he'd still have ALL DAY to throw deep or to his 4th option if somehow his first 3 fell down.

I've said this countless times...DLine makes secondaries rich, DBs don't make a defense huge jump.

    Ramsey had 3 INTs, 3!!
