New Jersey guy here, been to Nashville never had hot chicken.

Huge fan of spicy foods and buffalo wings, what exaclt is hot chicken? Like how is it made? Do they essentially make regular chicken like they make wings? Is it friend chicken?

I want to get my wife to make it, since we dont live in Nashville, and I refuse to go and try KFC's version of Nashville hot chicken.

Well, take a bucket of lard, mix in chili powder, then dip fried chicken into it. Appetizing

Tried it at the one KFC on this island, which is an unscientific sample set to say the least, and it was dog squeeze. Outlandishly expensive dog squeeze. For a reference point, the local Carl's Jr (Hardee's) sells the Six Dollar Burger for $7.89.

Been eating the KFC hot chicken 2X a week. With that impossible to beat $5 meal deal we go there 2X a week but I can't eat the regular chicken any more it is too bland.

The tenders are a more consistent product so I get that and i'm still craving it after i'm dne

It's $5.69 for the hot baskets and an extra dollar for as medium drink. Not bad.

OK, so, I came to this section of the forum trying to figure out where to go try "real" hot chicken (I have tried the KFC kind, and I liked it), so... Hattie Bs it is then (next time I'm in Nashville, which who knows when that will be).

Is anyone here familiar with Baumhower's Bring Da Pain sauce? How does the highest level of hot chicken at Hattie Bs compare to that? I guess a more widely accessible sauce would be Zaxby's Insane sauce (but that pales in comparison to the Bring Da Pain sauce), so how does that compare? Pie in the Sky's Mad Buffalo Sauce (ghost pepper based) would also be an interesting comparison for me (granted, I had that as a base sauce on a buffalo chicken pizza... which was considerably more intense than it would have been on wings).
