If we want a WR we wait for 18. Look at last years draft. 4 Wr's went in the first round. 1st one (C. Coleman) didn't go off until 15 and the next were in the 20's (Fuller, Doctson, Treadwell).

2nd round the WR's were just as good. (M. Thomas, Shephard, and Boyd)

I don't love M. Williams. I don't know why exactly but I don't see us taking him with 5. 18 I'd be happy with. But just looking at last years results I think we get good value at 18.

I agree, trading back wouldn't hurt a bit with so much talent in the areas of need in this draft.

Draft classes are different every year... Last year Oline was good, deep WR corps. Doesn't mean you should draft Oline high this year.

I really really like Mike Williams

The problem is that this projects as an outlier draft. Is there a true #1 overall qb? Debatable. Do we have 2 QB's that will go in the top 5? Flip a coin. Do we have 2-4 OT's that will go in round 1 with 2-3 of them going top 15? Nope. So we are gonna have players normally taken around 10-15 going in the single digits just because there is a lack of elite talent at the usual big positions (QB, OT).

Garrett and Allen are probably the ONLY top 5 defensive players. Someone may have Fournette and or Cook as top 10 guys and Watson probably sold himself to go, but the best VALUE is to drop out of that #5 pick unless one of a few scenarios presents itself (Allen or Garrett are available or someone else emerges as a clear top 5 talent that we can't pass up).

I don't think Mike Williams is a top 5 player. Top 10...OK. But he doesn't run by anyone so a lot of his catches are contested. The benefit is he is a BIG dude who knows how to outposition himself and makes a lot of great catches. but is that gonna translate into production worth the #5 pick in the draft? And btw, for the game winning pass play, they did not look to target Mike Williams. What does that tell you?

Don't get me wrong, I like Mike Williams, but there is quite the argument to be made why he may or may not be worth a #5 pick. Same can be made against Ross and Davis.

Same argument for Adams and Hooker. 1st round picks...ok. But what makes them top 5 picks? Are either of them better than Eric Berry was coming out? And I know it's blasphemy in TN, but do you think Eric Berry was worthy of his draft pick slot?

Just challenging you to see where your thoughts are in a friendly way.

You think Foster and Hooker are better prospects than Garrett?

I'd say they are right up there with him. Wouldn't go as far as "better".

Garrett is a freak of nature. But, I just don't see him being dominant at the next level like he has been. Although, I've been wrong plenty. lol

If we end up with Garrett I won't be upset. Just think we have Pro Bowl caliber options at 5 and he's not a for sure one.

If no trade back possible, I want either foster or hooker I think, and one of the receivers at 18.

Need to get some corners in fa.

I can see either foster or hooker being long time game breakers on d. Hell, the wet dream would be sign berry and some cb's draft foster and say the wr from western Michigan or Washington, and roll into next year.

Lot of love for a WR pick.
Personally, I'd rather take Foster at ILB and anyone secondary at #18. I think good WR will still be available in the 3rd round and with a better D, I think our offense will open up more (i.e. more than 2 WR on passing plays) and we'll see that the WR we have plus another solid FA (not necessarily a "#1" guy) will be enough with adding a WR in the draft, not first round.

I totally agree with you Williams isn't a top 5 player. All his catches are indeed contested and that's a tad concerning. Uses his body well, but he ain't running by anybody. Ross and Davis certainly aren't worth top 10 either. One (or both) will be available at 18.

What makes Hooker a top 10 pick? Elite range and ball skills. Covers the entire field like a CF. Blue chip player IMO. Violent hitter with closing speed. Diagnosis plays and closes in a hurry. Comes down in the box and seriously effects the run game. Total package.

Adams is similar IMO. Not as good ball skills as Hooker, but still an incredible prospect. SMART. Reads the QBs eyes and breaks on it before it's thrown. Natural instincts. Athletic enough to come down and cover a guy 1-on-1, but also plays like a SS in the box. Excellent tackler who also poessses elite diagnosis skills and closes in a flash. Big time hitter. Excellent open field tackler.

Was Eric Berry been worth his draft slot? Absolutely. That's why teams will line up with a blank check this summer for his services.
