I would not be shocked if we pick Howard or a WR at 5, and I wouldn't be upset either.

Aside from Garrett and Adams, which other top D prospect has zero injury concerns? Lattimore has hamstring problems, Allen has arthritic shoulders, Hooker just had surgery (and is a liability in run defense, IMO), Foster has a concussion history, etc. If these are the guys on the board and Jrob decides to pass and go offense at 5, I can totally understand that.

The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced we are going with Howard/WR with our 1st round 1 pick. Ideally that would be after a slight trade down, but if we can't swing a trade I'm positive Jrob is going with Howard/WR at 5. Here's why:

    1. Jrob admitted that 5 to 11 was part of the standing offer for Cooks - that tells me that Jrob knows WR is a huge need, but more importantly that *he doesn't feel there's an absolute must-have top D prospect in the ~5 range*

    2. WR/receiving threat remains a huge need after free agency. Sharpe is not a WR2 and Supernaw is not a TE2 (neither is Amaro).

    3. In Jrob's mind, our secondary is sufficiently patched up. At least good enough to not *need* to go CB or safety in round 1. He signed Cyprien in the opening hour of free agency and said that Logan was the target at CB. I'm not saying I agree, I just feel that's how Jrob views it.

    4. The CB and D line talent in this draft is deep enough that you will find someone good at 18 if you decide to go that route. The same can't be said for WR (but maybe for TE).

    5. Jrob can't take the risk of having his preferred WR fall to 18, and he doesn't have the draft capital to comfortably move up like he did last year.

    6. Jrob doesn't care what conventional thinking says about draft value for a particular position. If he did, he wouldn't have moved up from *15 to 8 for a RT!!!* last year. That was kind of crazy, but seems to be working out.

DT also came from Georgia Tech running the triple option......

that isn't the case this year.

Believe it or not, the Titans had one of the hottest offenses in the league for a good stretch of last season... It wasn't always pretty but it was effective. Can't say that about the D.

I'm not saying the offense doesnt need some upgrades but it was plenty good enough to win games if the D was even decent. If I had to chose one to put more effort into upgrading, I would go defense (secondary especially).

Hopefully both sides get a play maker or 2!

We have to be missing a mess of players interviewed at combine...

    Weren't teams allowed 65 interviews?

Not true at all. Likely 3 WR's at worst 2 will be there at 18. More teams aren't in the market for a WR now than you think - and Howard will not go Top 10, BUF needs defense - they'll go TE later if at all....

I think Howard will go higher than you think. He is one of the surest bets in the top half.
