    Anyone can cherry pick

I can come up with three times as many busts taken around those spots

More busts top 5 than late first round just because the expectations for top 5 is face of franchise, but I agree with you that a top 5 pick is extremely more valuable than a mid first rounder, although it depends on the draft depth, team needs, and trade offers.

top 10 picks are about 50/50

after that it just gets worse and worse the deeper into the draft you get

I wish I could find it -- the Globe and Mail published an analysis of previous drafts a few years back which says exactly that.

Also, the success rate after the first round drops off significantly then keeps dropping by round. Loading up on mid round picks is not as great as some people think it is.

Sure, you look at the stars that come out of those rounds but they are the exception, not the rule. You are exponentially more likely to get a bust than a star in the mid and later rounds.

Scouts are doing a better job than a lot of us give them credit for.

There is no way J-Rob trades with the Texans to allow them to land a franchise QB. Do you guys seriously want that - the team that is set pretty much everywhere else but QB, and you want to trade with them so they can get a QB?:whack:

If JRob can fleece them and feels that non of the qbs are going to be franchise guys then he might....I think this puts Garropalo back into play for the Texans. I could see the Pats fleecing them for multiple picks. They are desperate for a qb. Savage and Weeden are not going to get you to the SB.

If Brady has told the Pats he is going to retire after this yr then sure hold onto him. Otherwise it would be silly to not trade him. With the state of the qb market this yr, I feel certain that the Pats could get a 1st this yr and then some....if they hold onto him and Brady doesn't retire then you just get a comp 3rd for him.

Be prepared for the Pats to fleece somebody. They will not just let Garropalo walk into FA after next yr

I like where your going with this, but not that far back and not in the division. If we lose 20 spots, than i want 100 points, not 70. If we are division rivals than i want another 200 points at least. So all in all if titans are giving 1700, i want 2000 in return. I want 25 (720), 57 (330), 1st next yr (500/ devalued because its a future pick), 2nd next yr (250 also devalued) and thier 3rd and 4th this year (197 combined). That is the only way id trade with the cows. Even if you took out my added prices because of them being rivals and moving back so far, it would still take all that minus 300 points.

Posted in a joke thread but for real would do this. Hope JRob working this-

    Swap 5 for 12 (-500 Titans)
    Get #52. (+380 Titans)
    Swap 83 for 65 (+90 Titans)

That would put us -30 in the trade. JRob could bait or finesse with that difference (eg- get their #145 at +34). This would give us back our 2nd we traded to them and we'd very likely still get a playmaker we need at #12. We'd have ammo with # 65 or #69 to trade that #52 high into early 2nd round.

This would give the Browns ability to jump Jets and nab Trubisky, the hometown Cleveland guy and Garrett plus keep their #33. We'd gain a 2nd , move up in 3rd and likely have an additional 5th to work a trade to get a higher 2nd.

I'd pull the trigger in a heartbeat for that trade.
