I can see the Bears trading down with someone needing a QB. I've seen Adams and Solomon mocked to them at 3.

If fixing the secondary is the #1 priority this offseason then certainly we can get a stud safety at #5(Adams or Hooker) and a very good CB at #18 no problem... If we went that route then I would want to see us double up on WRs getting one in the 3rd and another later on. Honestly that is probably the best way to use the strength of the draft to our advantage if we are unable to get out of the #5 spot.

In the long run, Hooker should justify the #5 draft spot. But after spending time on this forum, I've learned the fans aren't even patient with a second round pick, let alone a top 5, and they also don't like one-dimensional guys whose weaknesses can be exposed(Cyprien).

Hooker already flashes as a center fielder, but he has huge holes in his game right now that teams will be able to exposed in the upcoming season. People are whining about 2nd round rookies who are in rotation behind solid starters, and also about an All-Pro top 10 rookie getting "help". How do you think they will react to Hooker missing tackles, taking bad angles, making bad reads, and generally looking lost? It happens to all rookies to some degree, but Hooker is especially raw, and I don't think he'll give the pass defense the boost people are looking for this season, and certainly will not help the run defense.

Two years from now, I'm thinking Hooker will be a stud. I'm willing to be patient, if the organization think that's their guy in the long-run. I'm just wondering if everyone else here will.

I agree Hooker can be great, but I don't think Jrob is seriously considering him. He's not bringing him in for an official visit as far I've heard, while he is bringing in Adams, Allen and Lattimore.

Hooker may not fit the Jrob mold. His first love is basketball not football and he even considered leaving the team after a year at Ohio State because he was homesick and not adjusting well. He also is leaving with 2 years of eligibility remaining and some glaring holes (run support mainly) that he could spend time in college fixing, which tells me he's looking to get paid and then coast by. He doesn't strike me as a guy who will independently push himeself to be a great football player.

Free Safeties take a while to "get it". It's the equivalent to playing QB, there's a lot more of a mental aspect of the position than just the athletic portion. How long did it take Eric Berry, Ed Reed? Those guys were extremely pedigreed and had lots and lots of college success and tape that translated.

Hooker has neither, so i can see him being at least 3 yrs from being a solid starter. And I believe if you are taken in the first 40 picks, you need to be starter or getting lots of plays in year 1. That's why many, many people consider Dudd and Autism to be extreme disappointments.

Sounds a lot better than taking a 15-20th ranked prospect at 5. At least we can fix our league worst secondary, instead of touching up on our top 10 offense.

    A. Adams will be going to the BEARS imo
    B. He's another in the box specialty .... which we just signed a pretty good one..

He's definitely raw, but I think he'll have enough success to where it won't matter to most people, and the flashy plays he'll probably make will silence most people.

Byard had a lot of the same issues last year, and not only fixed them, but was a successful box safety this year. I believe our staff is going to work wonders with Hooker, and that's going to be great, because I think he has more raw talent than anybody in the draft.

In addition, we need help in the middle of the field more than anything and he helps with that.

I'd like us to trade down from 18 probably and grab a #1 corner and then grab a receiver in the second round like Zay Jones. Then maybe get a raw prospect with some upside like Robert Davis or Yancey in the later rounds for some depth.

Fixing our leaky secondary with a guy who can't cover or a guy who can't stay healthy.

    Awesome.

Hooker would at least add a center fielding ability that no one on the roster has. Adams is just Cyprien without NFL experience.

    LOL.

Jonathon Cyprien was ranked higher than Eric Berry by PFF too. PFF is trash. It gets propped up by being the only organization willing to do the dirty work. Good on them for monetizing it, but it's still trash.
