My dream 1st round would be trade back to 12, grab Foster at 12 Davis at 18 and now have a 2nd rounder!

I prefer to call it a heavy spread. It's a whole offense I've cooked up in my head.

Yeah, I think people are trying to compare him to Ray Lewis here, and that he is not. I think he's a probably a future Pro-Bowl linebacker, but I think people are reaching to what he actually is.

Watching every game in his career means you should already know he doesn't have great run D instincts because he's inconsistent here. Just in the Auburn game there are many plays where he's hesitant about where the ball is going and he just kind of waits. That will get you blocked out of the play in the NFL if you let an OL come out and get you. This is covered up because no one has an OL good enough to block their front well so he can take 1 second to wait and figure out where the ball is going and then go get it. In the NFL, he won't have such a superior DL vs the OL he is facing. Point is, his inconsistency here may stop him from being a dominant run defender. Certainly he's a great chase and tackle guy who is a tone setter. He just doesn't have great run D instincts. Most of his instinctual plays you see on tape are plays to the outside where he can use his speed and explosiveness to go by or thru blockers.

He's certainly a first round pick, but his instincts concern me and his judgement too. Yes, sometimes guys need to be a little off-kilter to be a crushing MLB, but in today's NFL, there is concern that judgement will affect him off the field which could stop him from playing. Unsportsmanlike penalties and hitting qb's in the head are also bad for high level defensive play!

These things plus his size would keep me from taking him at 5.

Especially since people aren't taking into account that he was playing at 225 lbs. He had a ridiculously effective line to keep him clean so he could patrol around untouched, but how will be fight through blockers which get to him on the next level if this line can't hold the OL at bay? Most of the great ILBs are 15 pounds heavier.

In terms of run d, we were 2nd in yards per game and 12th in ypc. Vs the pass, we were 30th in yards given up per game and 15th in qb rating against. You think adding an ILB is gonna have a major impact on our pass D? Because that is where this D is lacking!

Both Sims and Byard were a part of that poor pass D. We need more talent in the secondary. While Foster would help in a lot of things including pass D, he won't help the pass D nearly as much as adding a dominant CB would.

Yes and no. A great ILB who can do all of the things Foster does helps all facets of the game so in that sense, he makes the whole D better. However, the players surrounding him allow him to be that since no one can block those guys for long and keep Foster very protected at 225lbs...allowing him to be a chase and tackle player as a MLB...which is rare! So the very talented D really makes him better because they keep him protected and let him utilize his strengths nearly every down.

And that's not a bad thing, that's just the reality of the situation. There is a reason Jonathen Allen is considered a better player than Foster. But both are first round talents though we'll see if Allen's medical past drops him.

He's also got an Auburn tat on his arm, doesn't he?
