NE has the shrewdest contracts of any team in the league. You act like they are Jacksonville, when they had several stars being paid way below market value. They get guys who want to stay and win, and let those who prefer more money walk. The same guys don't mind an expensive FA coming in if it improves their chances of winning. Quite a different situation than Jacksonville or what you're wanting here.

We did, but you're really not letting it sink in. Perhaps you can explain how having a $50mil cap disadvantage is gonna translate into more wins instead of more LOSSES???

LOL...come on...where's my 'apparently you understand this stuff better than me' info???? I'm waiting to be wowed...give me something to back up your claim!

So to reiterate, you're in favor of us having a $50mil cap disadvantage vs our opponents? Do you think we can win a SB with such a disadvantage?

I'll sit back and wait to be wowed!

NE had a ton of cap space after their championship year last year while hardly losing anyone of monetary significance. Like over $60M. Explain that.

So you say you understand this stuff 'apparently' better than me and yet...given 2 opportunities to show this...you ask ME to explain simple things to you???

It's a simple question to answer...but if you can't answer your own question, I suggest you go figure it out before touting your superiority over others on the board you are now asking to explain it to you.

Most importantly......learn. Some members of this website actually spend quite a bit of time breaking down game film, reading books, and learning all they can about football (and I'm not just talking about me). Some have played the game at various levels and others have coached. They strive to understand the game in great detail to know what is really going on.

Others tout fan stuff which you just repeat to argue a point and think you're superior because someone told you your point is valid. Not because you understand it. Case in point, someone keeps pointing to an article saying we were one of the top 10 teams in spending in free agency at $84mil. Did we actually spend $84mil? NO!!! Will we actually spend $84mil on those free agents? Most likely NO. So is there a point to saying we spent $84mil in free agency and are one of the top ten big spenders in free agency? Not to me.

But to people who don't really understand the game, they feel good spending a ton of money on season tickets because your team 'spent' $84mil in free agency!!! And they can come on a website and 'defend' our NOT spending money by pointing to an article that says we did.

LOL...apparently they understand this less than you do!

If you believe this chart and believe the other article saying we have spent $84mill in free agency (we haven't), then you should be doom and gloom because you're almost guaranteeing we'll be bad this year based on what these two articles say.

But face it, you have an inkling of what I'm saying is true because you even admitted going into the season with $48mil in cap space is 'not ideal!' So what is ideal? Take a look back and see how many teams even went to the Super Bowl with $48mil in unused cap space?

There is only one line of thinking in which you could possibly justify having such a deficit in cap and that is if you think we have one of the best GM's (who maximizes our use of our cap, gets a lot of players at below market value), a Hall of Fame coach (who can take any group of players, change the scheme to put them all in their best chance to succeed while minimizing their weaknesses, outschemes his opponents in all 3 aspects of every game and is a master at game management), and a Hall of Fame QB who will play for only 50% of his market value. Do we have this? No. But if we want to get to a Super Bowl anytime soon, the above team is who we have to BEAT!!! Oh, and they spent in free agency and are only $20mil under the cap...so we are at an even bigger disadvantage to them on the field.

Super Bowl? Let's be realistic here. The offensive line, backfield, WR group, and secondary have been created from scrap for the most part over the course of two seasons, with a ton of young guys who need experience before we even start thinking about a Super Bowl.
