Figured I'd start a thread for people to post trade offers/ideas and get advice on them.

I'm in a 12-team keeper league. There's no limit on who you keep, so stars can be hard to come by at some positions, and young stars especially. I received this trade offer:
    I send:
    - Mariota
    - Crabtree

    I get:
    - Cam Newton
    - Kevin White

I rejected, because I didn't want to let go of Mariota ... plan on designating him as a keeper, if he doesn't regress this year. My counter:
    I send:
    - Crabtree (2017 4th Round Pick)
    - 2018 10th Round Pick

    I get:
    - Kevin White (2017 11th Round Pick)
    - 2018 2nd Round Pick

Fair trade value? They get better in 2017, I get better in 2018?

If you're not trying to win this year then I guess. You probably don't even need to throw in the 10th round pick. If I was the other guy I'd gladly send a second+ bit parts for Crab.

Bad deal for me this year, but a great deal for me next year. Had he offered me a #2 pick for a #4 pick pre-draft, I would've taken it. I'm thinking in terms of future seasons, how many seasons will I be comfortable giving up draft picks to keep Crabtree (entering his 9th season) vs being able to get a young stud in the 2nd round and keep for many seasons to come.

The players/draft picks have to stay even, so I had to throw in something in the draft, probably could've gone with a couple rounds later, though. But WRs kept falling to me early, and I didn't want to reach for a mid-tier RB in the early rounds, so I loaded up on that position. With 2 WR spots on the team, I have Beckham, Benjamin, Crabtree, then I have Corey Davis and Mike Williams, in case they start doing something. So, I can spare one of those 3 WRs and still compete, but it's definitely a move with next season in mind.

Yea, I plan to cut him after Week 3, if he isn't producing. The trade is basically Crabtree for a #2 Pick. But we can't trade player-for-pick in the league, we have to both send 1 player each and 1 pick each.

I don't think it's too terrible. It's a make or break year for White. He's been thrust into the WR1 role now. Maybe it clicks for him? If so, great trade for you.

The hardest part about Fantasy football is getting away from the unknowns and locking up sure things...

Crabtree is 10x more reliable than White at this time, I wouldn't even think twice about this trade, bad deal IMO
