So my town of Deep Creek, Chesapeake in VA is having their best season in decades after some rezoning of the area really screwed over the school football program.

Some of the alumni are DeAngelo Hall, Chris Crocker, Darryl Tapp, and Darren Perry.

Lots of players in the NFL co e from the Hampton Roads VA area too.

This year though, reason to be excited. So far 4-0 winning 29-7, 33-0, 35-0, and today 48-0.

Anyway, curious if anyone else pays any attention to HS football. (I'll admit, I have extra incentive to watch, I have 2 kids in the halftime show every week)

I drive 2+ hours every Friday to see my old high school play. We are having a down year this year, graduated 16 starters from our 11-0 year last season.

    It's all good.
I just assumed not too many people like HS football then. I'll move about my day just fine.

I keep up with my alma mater. It's usually always down years with the team though. Stretching back to around 2005 and onward, there have been several 0-10 seasons and if there were any wins, it was always just a win or two. I can't recall the last time it stretched past 5 (2015) wins.

Deep Creek HS is the High School where my kids go to school now in VA. I'm from PA and sometimes follow up on my HS, but not usually. They did win the PA State Championship in 2005 (with superstar stand-out Blidi Wreh Wilson), but that's about the full extent I've followed them since moving away.

On my way to the final game of the season here. We will miss playoffs for first time in a decade, should lose this game by 30, putting us at 2-9 overall.

Sad thing is we have a senior rb who's 1 of top 2 or 3 in NC and will go to D1, but we had a mass graduation last year. Graduated our qb, #1 wr, and 4 of our 5 starting oline men on offense. So, he has no help amd no blocking, so he's not got a thing going this season. Hate to see him go out on this note.

Yea, he'll be fine. I just hate it for my personal viewing experience. hahaha

Our best player ever was a QB that graduated 2 or 3 years ago. Set state records for yards responsible for in a season and TDs in a season, etc. 3300 pass yards, 2100 rush yards, 59 TDs ... took us to state semis and barely lost by 7 as time expired. He had free rides to any ACC school and a lot of SEC schools in football, but he had free ride to nearly any school in the country for baseball, he was even better in that sport.

He plays for UNC baseball, now ... should be going pro after next season, I think. Saw him at the game last week sitting in the crowd and told him we miss him out there on the field, he replied "Not so fast, ghost rider. I chose baseball in college for a reason ... I walk so much easier and stand so much straighter on weekends, now." lol
