What to do about the Defense?

And no pressure.

Felt like the same crappy defense we've had for almost a decade.

Beginning to wonder if the DC is irrelevant and someone behind the scenes is coaching it. Same issues us fans have identified for YEARS is still prevalent - TE killing us... Playing far off WRs... poor tackling.

Those are consistent problems every year. No matter who the DC is.

 

I'd be happy with our first two picks next year being inside line backers and sign the best NT on the market. We are weak up the middle!

 

I feel like if his plan works out the gate or at least by the second qtr, cool but I don't think he makes any adjustments at all. Like ever. The plan either works from the get go, or they suck all game.

This did look a lot like the 2013 and 2014 teams

 

Jackson was getting beat to. If he ain't give up the catch it was pass interference. It wasn't all Sims and McCain

 

Its really hard to fathom that debacle that occured today

But why was our #4 corner (McCain) repeatedly covering Hopkins 1-v-1?

Why pay Ryan 10 million & not even try letting him cover Hopkins?

And the cushion.. 3rd & 2, eight yard cushion.

Unfathomable.

 

I think Logan Ryan was the least burnt today. Sims, McCain, and Jackson all got burnt bad and picked up PI calls too.

A Safety... a CB... a LB... a true NT

Easier said than done... but that's what we need. 4 key players.

 

Every other team would put a safety help on Hopkins side so its not 1-v-1. The commentator mentioned it several times.....

I really hope we pick up the best passrusher available in R1, trading up if there is anyone worth it, and D line in R2. I think we are "ok" in the secondary if we get better pressure on the QB and better D scheme.

 

This is one of the biggest issues. There are NO contested catches against our defense. The DBs play at least 5yds off the WRs. We give up a first down free every 2 passes!! It's nuts & NEVER changes!
