This team only does well when MM8 plays the team cannot win without him. He ran for 2 tds vs cows while the team didn't help much. But ask yourself, why can't Mularkey get the team ready, prepared and fired up to beat our rivals when it matters? Offense looks flat and defense looking horrendous. This is on the coach plain and simple. The good coaches are always competitive and consistent something Mularkey is not.

Sportsbook should have a bet going on if Marcus plays Monday or not.

“I want to be very smart about how we do this,” Mularkey said. “It is more than this game. It is a lot of games to be concerned about. I’ll have to see more than what I’ve seen to this point.”

Everything about the way he talked at the PC pointed to Cassel starting Monday Night. Now, that could change; but I would be shocked if it does.

There are a couple of factors here to think about.

    1. Mularkey is thinking about the long term health of Marcus. I believe this is 100% about AAS mandate to keep Marcus safe. I do think he could go w/o issue this week. He has been rumored to be jogging and running now by media. All that is not there is a full sprint which Mularkey wants to see.

    2. If Marcus misses more than 1 game it gives the coaching staff an out for at least 2 losses. Because..... They were protecting Marcus.

    3. (This is just out of my head & random) I think that holding out Marcus another week gives Mularkey & Co time to iron out the kinks in the system w/o endangering Marcus. I think the oline has been pretty bad pass protecting TBH. Although Marcus hasn't been sacked like Cassel has; it appears to be due to Marcus' mobility. Sitting him another week allows them to fix it before putting him behind that line. I think this will prove to be especially true if Taylor Lewan does not play. My bet would be no Taylor Lewan/No Marcus..... And I think that again will be a HC decision to protect Marcus...... Just completely out of my head thoughts....
