    1. The on that still bothers me,is in leading up to the 1985 draft with Buffalo Bills picking 1st overall and Houston Oilers picking 3d overall with two of the highest rated DE's to ever come out Bruce Smith from Va tech and Ray Childress from Texas A&M both became great I always thought Ray was a better all around player, best run defender in league in NFL first 5 years in league bar none and great pass rusher They use to call him BoB Lilly part 2 basically JJ watt before Watt came along, Ray should be in the Hall of Fame, but The Oilers also had the 11 overall pick for trading Earl Campbell to the Saints to reunite him with Bum Phillips, the Oiler 's choose Cb Richard Johnson instead of Jerry Rice from Mississippi Valley State, as a little boy I use to idolize Lynn Swann and John Jefferson, and I knew Jerry Rice was going to be an all time great, long before Bill Walsh or Mel Kiper, hell Walsh wanted Eddie Brown from Miami.

I actually wanted leinart over VY. Hindsight says that may have been better only because of the need for a new QB again before waiting until superstar Jake Locker was available.

I also wanted Leonard Williams over Mariota (or Winston had TB taken Mariota)

Leinart over VY would have been great. So much easier to cut ties with Leinart because Bud wouldn't have gone all, "VY IS MY GUY!" on us.

That's probably true. Team may not have suffered as greatly with Leinart.

Disagree. I think we would have suffered worse (record wise) and drafted a QB at least the year before Locker if not 2.

Well if that had happened, the 2010 QB draft class was far worse. Sam Bradford is the only QB still in the league. The rest of that list includes names like Tim Tebow and Jimmy Clausen.

But at least that would have meant we wouldn't have gone QB in 2011, where basically as long as you didn't go with a QB, you were getting a Pro Bowler. Seriously, every player taken in the top 16 aside for QB's and Nick Fairly have been studs, with several after them that have been solid.

The D probably would have kept us from getting Stafford in 09 but I don't care what anyone says, a different situation and mark sanchez or Josh freeman could have stuck around for awhile to build the rest of the team.

Who knows, one of those two stick around until we trade in the 2015 draft for Mariota or Winston.
