Do you even know what you do in LBP?

And kid games don't average 96 on reviews.

Why do you take video game ratings seriously? lol They're bought out. Welcome to 2006.
And yes, in LBP you run around with cute little characters and figure out how to get from one end of the level to the other. GROUND BREAKING!!!!!

oh oh! and don't let me forget - you can build your own levels!!! OMG!! who wouldnt want to create a level for other strangers to play???

again - its cool if it interests you. But this is a Wii poster child game on PS3.

Wow Gloat...did you have an accident playing Donkey Kong as a kid??? Brutal attack on a game you have not even played yet.
While I agree the game rating system is a flawed one [I worked as a freelance reviewer/writer for PC games for a few years a while back and grew tired of the juvenile nature of the business], the ratings can be somewhat accurate if you know how to read through them.

However, your flaming of the game without any hands on play is a bit over the top, even from you.

I have to agree. That was leaning into rant territory, in a game you haven't even had the slightest bit of play-time. How do you know you can't get into it when you haven't even attempted to try it. It's one thing to think it's kiddie (it's really not, the game system is very convoluted and complex), but you seem to genuinely dislike the game completely. To each their own I guess, but it's a good, innovative game from everything I've read and heard about it.

I'm not bashing it. I'm calling it for what it is. A physics showoff experiment with cute characters. Again - just because it looks painfully boring to me, doesn't mean you can't enjoy it. But it looks like game you'd play just to pass time to me.
and it's very kiddie. lol That's it's entire gimmick - to be cute. What else is interesting about the game? Swinging from vines and jumping on platforms...really?

It looks like a free game you'd DL from the internet that nobody wants to buy.

Well, with regard to the argument about the lack of interest in user-created levels/maps...some of the best maps I have ever played in most shooters I have enjoyed have been user created. Doom's long life was due to the fact that there were thousands of user maps, BF1942, Swat3, etc.

So...its a big deal to many gamers, othewise the game designers/publishers would not spend the energy releasing the developer's tool kits to the public just for those purposes.

If reviews are 'bought out' there would be disparity amongst reviews and games published by Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo would be amongst the highest rated, as would those that are pushed heavily in advertising campaigns.

Lair, Too Human and many others prove it does not happen as much as you would like to think.

I have found the video game ratings to be very accurate, just like rotten tomatoe is for movies. I think they give you an excellent idea of how a game is going to play. Then you can play it, and make your own determination, but they have been very accurate in my opinion. Maybe some people just don't know how analyze the data.

    3. Super Mario Galaxy WII Nintendo 73 8.9 97.268%
    4. Grand Theft Auto IV X360 Rockstar Games 78 8.4 96.684%
    5. The Orange Box PC EA Games 32 9.6 96.422%
    6. Metroid Prime GC Nintendo 89 8.8 96.326%
    7. Soul Calibur DC Namco 27 8.8 96.259%
    8. The Orange Box X360 EA Games 55 9.1 96.196%
    9. Super Mario 64 N64 Nintendo 21 9.2 95.905%
    10. Tekken 3 PS Namco 23 8.1 95.804%

Grand Theft auto IV wasnt the best game in the last year, but according to game ratings - its the 2nd best game ever. lol Speaking of how nintendo would in in the tops...well what do you know- mario galaxy at #3. zelda at # 1??? hilarious. Metroid prime, also at #6.

I wouldnt play any of the top 10 games of all time according to the ratings.

Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo aren't going to pay off 50+ sites to give good reviews, the cost isn't worth it especially for third party games.

GTA and Halo and Metal Gear were all going to sell no matter what the review. Sequels of successes are always going to sell.

God of War 3 will sell millions even if it is a major flop.
