I know they were trying to get the offsides, but what happened to the Jeff Fisher that'd go for the field goal and the lead and worry about the defense winning the game like have so many times before. You still are gonna have to play defense and depending on special teams coverage, you could have the lead and 1:50 left to stop them.

What was he thinking? Man, if ever a coach could lose a game, this was it.

Fisher isn't very bright. His reputation is based on great talent, and he's the reason we didn't win the last super bowl- and probably the reason we wont win one in the future. You've gotta be able to actually coach late in the season.

Oh man, I didn't ask for the fisher bashing to begin. I'm calm and what not, I know playoffs are what is important. I just was just curious for any reason why you would go for it as opposed to the lead. You cant point fingers at fish, you can point fingers at the play of the entire team (and finny). It was below average and I think we took the Texans for granted.

The offensive playcalling by Heimerdinger was shoddy all day.

They didn't make the appropriate adjustments at halftime (I.E., RUN THE DAMN BALL with CJ/Lendale and stop relying on the weakest part of the team).

McCarins doesn't have the ability to get separation downfield
Collins doesn't have the accuracy to put the ball where it's supposed to be.

If we tank the remainder of this season, which is quite likely at this point...blowing it up and starting all over may become an option. There are too many other good, proven coaches out there (Bill Cowher comes to mind).

So far- our 2 losses have been due to being pass happy while the run game was working. Great coaching.
We attempted to run the ball 21 times. 21...
against the Houston Texans - the 24th ranked run defense in the NFL.

Sometimes I swear Fisher doesn't do his homework during the week. Almost as if he creates his strategy as the game goes.

If Bironas misses a field goal, I think we can all live with that. This is going to be hard for the team to swallow, particularly because it resulted in the loss of Al. Without him, this team can not defeat a playoff caliber squad in January.

If Collins had trouble with the Texans...the Steelers D will kill him. We absoluted NEEDED this win because without it I don't believe we get home field.

So you can brush this off as meaningless...but home field throughout the playoffs is a significantly HUGE advantage...and if you don't understand that then we can't help you.

:ha::rolleyes: You've got to be kidding. There's no way we start over. We have a great young core (CJ, Finnegan, Griffin, Roos, Stewart, Ball, etc.) that is complemented veteran leaders who can still play at a high level (KVB, Bulluck, Hope, Mawae, etc.) Why start over? Even if we choked this year (it won't happen), we could still find our QB out of VY, Simms, or KFC and draft a couple of WRs (and feature Hawkins, who deserves his shot). We can easily become a powerhouse starting this year, to blow it all up is inconcievable.
