I love my Ipod. I had an 80 gb Zune, and hated it.

  2. Microsoft issued a statement saying its technical team has isolated the issue: a bug in the internal clock driver related to the way the device handles a leap year. The company says the issue should be resolved over the next 24 hours as the time change moves to January 1, 2009.

"We expect the internal clock on the Zune 30GB devices will automatically reset tomorrow (noon, GMT)," Microsoft said. "By tomorrow you should allow the battery to fully run out of power before the unit can restart successfully, then simply ensure that your device is recharged, then turn it back on. If you're a Zune Pass subscriber, you may need to sync your device with your PC to refresh the rights to the subscription content you have downloaded to your device."

amazing how manufactures can't get a simple think like a clock to function properly, yet they can through in a bunch of crappy functions that noone really wants or needs

my daughter has an Ipod and I hate it. She like it though. Everyone else has a generic MP3 player and they all seem to work fine. Boys is truly generic 1gb piece of crap $5 thing, but it works fine. Wife has a Sandisk and it has been fine for a couple of years now. I got a Estor or something with video/fm ect. poor mans Zune best I can tell. Anyway it seems to work fine.

  7. I love my iPod (and iPhone). And it even works on leap years...

    lol

I probably should check the things but somehow I suspect this is not a common problem. Just reboot seems to be the solution anyways, what a revelation that is.

I just can't stand the propritaritary issues around Apple. With the generic MP3 crap I can do/move/copy whatever I want however I want whenever I need to without SJs written permission and a $0.99 fee, but thats just me.

  9. Yeah, well in this case a reboot was all it needed. But it just happened to be a reboot 24 hours later...

There is no need to buy DRM'ed music to use an iPod. You can rip misic as MP3s that will play on anything (or even DRM-free AAC). And even if you want to buy music online, you can get it DRM-free from Amazon. Apple sells some music DRM-free, but only 1 of the labels has allowed them to do that. All the others are actively trying to hurt iTunes by not allowing them to sell music without DRM.

  10. Just as a footnote to my last post, Apple just announced today that all the music on iTunes is now DRM-free...
