Seems to be a popular topic on this board, and there just happens to be an article today about it in the Baltimore Sun. R-E-S-P-E-C-T

Side note, I played lacrosse in college and Dr. Joel Fish (mentioned in the article) worked with our team, it was a complete waste of time. Somehow this man has become THE sports psychologist, works with famous athletes all over the globe, is extremely well compensated, and his face is all over ESPN. He'd spend time spitting out cliches about why it's important to work hard and support your teammates, revolutionary advice! Something about that entire profession screams bull**** to me. Rant. Over.

Yes....I read that article this morning.
What team doesn't use that one....................hee hee
I think most pro athetes get psyched up at game time.
The coverage is always in their "Lets Go on 3" huddles.

I would think it would be more frustration than motivation because, if you are getting respect as a player, you are probably also in more demand which means a bigger contract and endorsement opportunities.

As a team, I guess "lack of respect" gives coaches/players something to talk about but I can't imagine it being much of a factor to a professional player of any sport. But you hear sound bytes every week from some player after a win saying something like "yeah. we proved we are for real today", etc.

This "respect" angle is about as ghetto as you can get. You want motivation? How about that it's the playoffs and win or frickin' GO HOME!

Honestly, what more motivation do you need? If that isn't enough, you deserve to lose.

Personally, I would hate seeing the Ravens get the media-whoring that the Cowboys get. Who needs all that distraction?

Don't mess with what works. If you have to tell yourself that no one thinks you're any good, then tell yourself that.

Fisher wasnt buying that whole respect thing from Rex Ryan, i wouldnt either. He knows in the back of his mind that if theirs any team going into the playoffs that havent gotten the respect its the Titans.

Man im reading that report on yahoo right now and its absolutely ridiculous.....How can the Ravens cry for no respect?

Titans win the division, over the the much heralded Colts, beat the Ravens entire division, beat the Ravens in their own home, are the #1 seed and best record in the NFL, and are still pretty much the underdogs.

75% of the NFL fanbase couldnt name 5 Titans players, everything I heard on ESPN yesterday is how great the Ravens are and that Ed Reed is g o d.

And the Ravens are crying for no respect?? Eh whatever let them cry then, cause they will be crying when they walk out of the stadium after they lose and didnt give Tennessee the respect they deserved.

I can't think of many (if any) people in whatever occupation that believe they receive enough respect.

Also human nature for people to be whipped into a frenzy to go get something they believe they deserve.

It is simply an easy recipe to improve performance.

I was just watching First and 10 on ESPN. They had Lil Wayne on the show to battle with Skip Bayless. Let me give you a quote from Lil Wayne..........

"I think the Titans are gonna get smacked in the mouth, cry, and go home."

    That is an exact quote.

    Skip picked the Titans.

Have the experts actually made their picks yet? I didn't think they had. The line says minus homefield advantage we are dead even. I'm pretty sure you all will be the favorites.

The reason ESPN is focusing more on the Ravens than the Titans is because we played on Sunday and you all didn't. All of the wildcard teams are getting more coverage than the Titans/Steelers/Giants/Panthers. That will change as we get closer to game time.

    Finally, Ed Reed is God.
