I think that Haynesworth has shown a great deal more maturity since the Gurode incident. It's definitely possible that his turnaround was only money motivated, but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. I think he simply finally grew up.

Regardless, I'll still be shocked if we pay him.

Albert is the best DT in the league and if you have a chance to sign him you do it. The guy has played lights out over the past few years,so why not reward him? I strongly believe hes a changed man since that whole stomping incident and has done nothing but work hard to get the respect back from the league that he had lost. As far as his health is concerend, Albert plays the most physical position in the game and gets double teamed constantly, hes going to have a few bumps and bruises. If he has to miss 1-2 games i'm ok with that, espically with the depth we have now behind him. I dont know to many DT that can play the game the way he does and make it through a whole season. We shouldnt take for granted the type of player he is because hes one of the best at his position, he makes everyone around him better and if we're going to make any type of run to the SB in the next few years,we're going to need him...

I don't think anyone said anything like that. 30 million sounds like a nice round number, doesn't it? It goes quickly, especially if we keep ANY of our nice second tier players- scaife, jones, fuller, bironas. My post wasn't me freaking out and saying that the sky is falling, it was a simple comment on what I think our overall plan/goals are if we sign haynesworth. If we add another very large contract, decisions will have to be made before next offseason really starts. We can't keep Albert, Vince, Bulluck, and KVB (at least not without messing with the rest of the roster. Yes, right now 2010 is an uncapped year, but really it's an unknown, and I don't think that we're just going to start spending like crazy just because the deal isn't in place yet. That's not the style of this team.

Sheesh, speaking of accusing people of knee-jerk reactions...

Believe it or not, I'm not hell bent on selling the farm for Haynesworth. He rarely completes a three game stretch without at least a minor injury that has him taken out of the game, and our D-Line looked very young and deep without him at times this year. Considering he'll be making more money then any DT ever, regardless of what jersey he has on next year, I would suggest our FO take a long look at things and really evaluate this teams need to pay AH 10 mil next year. I want him back, don't get me wrong, but is it worth missing out on the cap space to upgrade other positions (WR, TE, RB, DB, LB come to mind) this year and in the future?

That on top of the fact that he's coming off of two consecutive contract years, which are also the two years he played at a caliber unlike any season prior. AH proved his value in 2007, when his contract expired at the end of the year. I'm not doubting his work ethic, but he wouldn't be the first player to a$s out after getting a guaranteed $30+ mil. Rushing into spending that much money on one player could be dangerous everytime a team does it. Look at TO this season. Regardless of anything surrounding the Cowboys or TO himself, he had a great year last year, got a HUGE CA$H bonus this year, and his production hit the floor (relative to his past two years) this year. We don't want the same thing to happen here

This post is all over the place. Do you or don't you want to keep him? Also the TO stuff makes me laugh. When was the last time we had a 1000 yard rec with double digit TDs? All that and he did not have his QB for a 1/4 of the season.

The way I am looking at AH is he wants a million a game to play for us. That price seems high to me but then again he is a quality player. I would be upset if we did not put something into the contract that paid for incentive. It seems to be his best motivator. :greedy:

The TO comment was a comparison in terms of contracts and money, not a comparison to our wide receivers. Jerry Jones forked over big $$ to TO last off season and his production fell off RELATIVE TO HIS PAST TWO YEARS. If you actually read what I wrote instead of just trying to argue with me you would have seen that I made it clear that I wasn't comparing him to any receiver EVER to wear a Titans jersey. I was comparing him to himself in 07 and 06, when he made less money and played MUCH better. We don't want the same to happen with Haynesworth. That's what I was getting at.

And the post isn't all over the place at all. It's pretty simple if you actually read it and think about it. He's a great player, one of the best in the league at his spot, but he IS going to demand nearly 1 mil per game, which is money that could be spend in SEVERAL other places, as opposed to just one guy. I do want him, but I don't think any single player is worth jeopardizing your franchise's financial future, especially when we wouldn't be hurting too bad ut DT without him. Simple economics. Is the investment worth the return? For anything near a million a game, I'm thinking no its not. Jason Jones had 3.5 sacks against the Steelers and forced 3 fumbles when AH wasn't even playing. JJ makes less then a million a year and he had more sacks then AH had in ANY single game in our BIGGEST game of the season WITHOUT AH lined up next to him drawing a sure fire double team.

And a big contract with performance incentives is precisely what we should be working on with him, I agree 100% on that one

    Hmm lets see …

So you REALLY want the guy …

No I guess you’re not really sure … but think the FO should take a hard look at if his value is actually added ….

Wait now you want him back but only if we can upgrade key spots which you ID as concerns. BTW if we waist any more picks or FA money on a RB we should just fire our GM right now.

This statement implies that he was playing for money by adding in the ‘two consecutive contract years’ part …

You don’t question his work ethic but just said the guy was playing for money and earlier in the post you said he is constantly injured. Though you are back on the pay the guy what he wants but now you are adding that don’t be surprised if he was just in it for cash.

Now we are back to evaluating if it is a good move or not. So yes I did read your post all the way through as tough as it was to follow but again I ask the question do you or don’t you want him?

And with TO he had an average TO season. If he has Romo for all 16 games he probably beats all of his numbers from two years ago so relative to 2007 which was one of his best statistical years of his career I would agree that his numbers dropped off. If you look at his career numbers he was right on pace.

The salary cap does NOT matter anymore. It has already been decided upon, it WILL be gone. There is nothing holding us back from giving Haynesworth a new contract as well as Bironis, KVB, Bulluck, Scaife, and/or anyone else the team deems worthy of a fat contract and a roster spot. I'm sure there's a limit Adams is willing to spend, but there is no reason to be slaves to the cap any longer.

You are truly poor at reading comprehension good sir. I've highlighed some absolutely idiotic points that you tried to refute my OPINION with.

First of all, you interpreted the phrase "I'm not hell bent on selling the farm for Haynesworth" as "I really want Haynesworth" which is obviously the OPPOSITE of what it means. I'll translate this into lament terms for you: Maybe making Haynesworth the richest defensive player ever isn't such a good idea.

No, I just think we have higher priorities then signing a DT. Our offense needs to be focused on. And I think if Fred Taylor showed interested in playing here and splitting downs with CJ for a reasonable price, we'd be silly not to sign him. We would then have 3 capable RBs including a seasoned VET with an edge on our division rival and two 1000 yard backs in their 2nd and 3rd season. Sounds pretty good to me.

I never implied that he was playing for money, I just pointed out that he had major incentives to be playing well when he did, the only time he did. The last time I saw AH playing top caliber football without a $ dangling in front of him he was wearing orange and white. And injuries have nothing to do with work ethic??

And NEVER ONCE in this post did I say 'pay the guy what he wants'....you are simply putting words in my mouth THEN arguing with the words you put there.

Where are you coming up with this stuff and why are you attacking every post I make? I simply said that he's a great player, but he may not be worth the money he will demand. Is that really to hard for you to comprehend? And is this really worth all of your time? And thank you for checking out NFL.com and regurgitating a few TO stats for us. What I was going for there was an analogy, but you're clearly not of the mental capacity to understand something like that, so just forget I ever mentioned TO.

So what is your opinion when it comes to Haynesworth and the contract and whatnot? Are you going to offer a valid opinion or are you just going to dissect this post too and make a bunch of misinterpreted, wack a$s remarks about MY OPINION? Either way, I'd appreciate it if you could kindly remove yourself from my nuts
