I think the analysis from this thread last week was dead on- the longer Holt waits, the lower his money goes, which is a bad thing for him. A few more teams drop off the list of suitors after the draft, and his options start to dwindle. I don't see anyone actually paying him 7 million per year, and especially not a 5 year contract. If he's lucky, he'll get a three year contract for 5+ per year.

I agree that Holt feels that he is younger, just as productive and worth T.O. money. But I don't agree that Gage or Washington's pay determines where we go with Holt. Sure we aren't going to pay Holt twice as much as we're paying either of these guys, but I think we could be right at the $5 million per year mark.

I don't wanna overpay for Holt but would really really like to have em. Again, I want em but won't be mad if we don't get em .

so....been quiet since he left, wonder if we're still in talks with holt on the financial end. I haven't heard of any other scheduled visits for him as we're approaching the draft.

I heard on Nfl Network tonight that he'll be waiting until after the draft and that the Jets, Giants, Bears and a few others may be interested in his services. The Titans were not mentioned.

    Surprise surprise.

    Well...

I guess he and his agent never heard the concept Supply and Demand. More supply...LESS demand!

Giants are definitely going after a WR and don't look like they want Holt since they are gearing up to trade for one or move up in the draft for one. The Jets don't seem too concerned about WR at the moment but could take one in the 1st, rnd or 3rd rnd and be fine. Plus, they are up against the cap...dont have a spare 6mil for Holt. Why would Holt wanna play for the Bears? Yes they just got Cutler, but he's spent his entire career on a dome team and now he's gonna play in one of the coldest towns/divisions in the NFL? Plus, I see the bears as a team that's gotten old and is trying to get younger...not OLDER.

I think Holt is praying the Jags take a QB in rnd one and fill other holes in rnds 2-3 so they are a bit desparate for him after the draft. Plus, if the Titans stay par...and don't take a WR in rnd 1, he probably thinks he can get us into a bidding war. Wrong!

This is a BIG mistake unless both the Titans and Jags are offering a 1 yr vet minimum deal...but I don't believe that. Holt should sign right now for the most money he can get in a one year deal...preferably on a winning team (titans?).

Not sure why his agent doesn't understand money. We'll see what he gets...IF he gets signed.

  7. I agree with Gut. I don't see any benefit to waiting till after the draft to sign.

waiting til after the draft does a couple things for holt.
    1. makes him look like someone who doesnt really want to play football because he isnt really pushing the issue to get on a team.
    2. lowers his cash money
