FYI Australian beef is excellent. Australian beef is sold in most moderately priced Philippine steak houses and the quality is excellent.

Thank you mickey D's for keeping your prices down so the poor people of America can afford to dine out.

PS my son loves the play area. :beerbang:

My wife and i eat the hardees low carb burgers al the time. You save 400 calories by dissing the bun and wrapping the burger in lettuce instead. Just 350 calories without bun, cheese and mayo.

Interesting discussion. I just feel like pointing out that discussing calories is moot if you don't take into account the breakdown into different types.
You can't just compare meals on caloric count alone, because the composition of the calories is more important than the number itself. A high calorie meal can easily be more healthy (read: less fattening) than a low calorie meal, if it's high in the right carbs and protein and the other is mainly fat.

Further you really should break it down into trans-fat,unsaturated fats, complex and simple carbohydrates, etc.

And lastly, calories are not bad! You NEED them! You just don't need them in excess, so whether you get your calories from carbs, fat or protein doesn't really matter as long as you meet and do not exceed your caloric intake requirement.

Then of course there's the issue of chemical additives used in restaturan foods these days, which really is probably the bigger health concern when dinning out. Problem is that unlike stuff you buy at the store, there's no info label on the food in restaurants, so you have no idea what it contains.

What chemicals are restaurants adding to their food?

You make a good point about good calories vs bad but i did also talk about fat grams as well.

I believe that the ultra processed high glycemic buns used for hamburgers are as bad for us as the meat pattie inside. That includes the buns you buy at the store. Soft mushy turns into glucose almost instantly after you eat it and the glycemic index is actually higher than pure table sugar.

Flavour enhancers of various kinds, preservatives, etc.

And yes burger buns (and pretty much any white bread as well) are "bad" unless you really need an instant carbo-kick.

You get those at the supermarket. Restaurants buy their groceries more often than the average households do and use them faster so they would not have any greater need for preservatives.

My point is that in restaurants there are no declaration on the food, so you have no way of telling if they're using anything. In store bought products there's a declaration telling you what's been put in it (I'm assuming you have that in the states as well anyways).

RollTide, I think you are expanding this issue too much. The question is whether or not McDonalds has a place at Chris Johnson's, or for that matter, any serious athlete's training table. Do you feel that abstaining from fast food is a responsible decision on CJ's part or is it your contention that it doesn't really matter because it's not any less healthy of a food choice than most anything else he might eat? I think the heart of the matter revolves around what is best for CJ not necessarily what is good or bad for us, the fans.
