  1. Just saw Avatar tonight. I've got to say, it's very cool. Definitely see it.

And more importantly, see it in 3D. It's well worth the extra $3.50 for the 3D. Granted, I can't compare it to the 2D, but it looked amazing in 3D.

And I didn't even notice the glasses after a little while. I saw Beowulf in 3D a couple of years ago and the glasses were always noticeable. It's the same glasses, but I was so engrossed in this movie I completely forgot about them.

It's also a reason to not wait for the movie to come out on DVD or even BluRay. Nothing is going to match the 3D theater experience.

saw it a week ago on Imax 3D. It is a good movie but a little much for a 3+ hour movie. Very slow to develop considering the action scenes the previews showed and the last scenes I started laughing at. I had to bite my tounge not to start laughing so hard I cried.

Saw it last night at IMAX in 3D. Was amazing, and SK is right, you don't even notice the glasses after awhile.

Looks a bit too... ps2'ish for me. The characters look so poorly done that it's distracting even in the previews, so I'll have to catch it on TV some day. It'll definitely be one of those types that come on HBO 24 hrs a day here in a couple months.

If you don't see it in 3D or IMAX now, don't even bother when its on HBO. This was meant to be seen in theaters, and the hype is totally warranted. Cameron made a visual masterpiece with this one (plot is fine, nothing bad or anything, but the meat is in the effects).

I heard a lot of friends saying they thought the previews looked badly done too (the look of the characters and all) but once they saw it in 3d it looked great. Basically what you've said. It's meant to be seen that way or else it wont look too hot.
They said it was a great movie. I'll probably never know. Didn't grab my interests.

Same here, when I first saw the previews a laughed. South Park made fun of it when Cartman made his own straight to DVD movie called "Dances with Smurfs" and sold it to James Cameron. Then I heard some good things about and saw it with my family. It is THE amazing theatrical spectacle that anyone has ever laid their eyes upon. SK is right, see it in 3D, you become so entranced you forget about everything.

Also the plot isn't bad either. It's not like the sprinkled glitter on a POS. It's just the same old going tribal movie plot.

Is it worth seeing on IMAX or has anyone see the 3-D version at a regular theater? I'm trying to decide whether to haul it all the way out to Opry Mills or see it at Cool Springs.
