A Serious Man (Coen Brothers): I just couldn't get into it. It was darkly humored, I just didn't like it. Probably their worst movie since the Hudsucker Proxy. (5.5/10)

Paranormal Activity: Found it do be a big waste of time. I enjoyed literally 20 seconds of the entire film (the scene right before the finale). (3/10)

Star Trek: People hailed this as THE sci-fi movie of the year. I found that laughable. Dumb plot, decent acting (thought Bones and Kirk were the best). It just didn't impress in a year that did have some good science fiction. (6/10)

Up: I know I'm going to get crucified for this, but I thought this was pretty average for a Pixar film. I liked the little dog, and the story was sweet. That's it. I think Wall-E and this years Fantastic Mr. Fox (my favorite kid's movie of the year) spoiled me though.
    (6/10).

    Underrated Films:

The Hurt Locker: I know this got huge critical praise, but I thought it didn't receive enough viewership. Inarguably the best fictional portrayal of the war in Iraq, there are great performances, superb direction, and just a really well-done action/war film. (9.5/10)

Bad Lieutenant: Film by Herzog (a modern favorite of mine) with a rebounding Nick Cage. Cage puts in a pretty inspired performance here (and I usually hate Cage), and an interesting story to boot. (9/10).

Star Trek-franchise reboot for a new generation.Uneccessary crap that was sadly one of the better big budget releases. Even so it offered nothing new and wasn't justified IMO.

Terminator Salvation. Terrible script,Ireally wanted it to be good but it was a vacuous turd of a movie.

Wolverine. Wtf? How could they mess this up so badly. Jackman is immensely watchable as this character but I was embarrssed for him watching this movie.

I don't know if anyone else has seen this (probably not) but a movie title "Jacked Up" is by far THE WORST movie I've EVER seen.

I've not seen either the "Terminator" or "Transformers 2" movie based on poor reviews. I did watch "UP" and enjoyed for the first half of the movie before all the "action" stuff which really left me scratching my head.

I did like "Star Trek" but thought that Leonard Nemoy was horrible. I thought his dentures might fall out every time he spoke. I also didn't get the "impressions" of Bones and Kirk those actors would throw in every few scenes.

I can't say anything I saw in 2009 was memorable. "State of Play" was pretty good. I hope to catch a few others just now out on DVD.

Up was a bit bland. Seemed like Pixar tried to make a film for adults. The story was good, but not very entertaining- which is what they should stick with. If I wanted to see 'The Notebook', I'd grow a vag eye na (seriously? That's filtered?)... not sit through a Pixar film with my kids.

District 9 I think was definitely overrated. Just couldn't take it seriously, and for some reason I think it didn't take itself seriously either and some people didn't really get that and took it too... seriously? If that made any sense.

Transformers 2 is great... if you're trying to occupy a 6 year old... My kid loves EVERYTHING Transformers 2... the movie, toys, video game... whatever... sometimes a movie is more than how it stands alone...

I loved District 9 - and it definitely was not a flick to be taken seriously. It was comical from beginning to end.
