I hate to keep taking a negative stance, I'm a bit of a pessimist you see, but I'm not really happy with what the Titans did yestersay. First of all, I'm not completely dissappointed with Morgan, I mean he was rated pretty high and he fills one of our big needs.

I was really hoping to see us trade down with all of the maneuvering going on I figured it would be a distinct possibility. Plus it seemed like so many good players were slipping, hell Wilson went 29 and Hughes went 31. That seemed like a perfect time to trade down, especially since the two guys the Titans coveted, by all accounts, JPP and Graham were off the board. I don't like just taking the next best guy, why settle? We should have traded down, once maybe twice, and still got a damn good player.

Now we all get to wait while all of the good players that may have slipped pass us by. Unless, of course, that we do something stupid again like last year (Cook trade) and trade our 1st rounder next year for a 2 this year :gag:

I actually saw an interview with Coach Fisher and he indicated that other teams had called, but Morgan was the player they wanted. One of the reporters asked him, "were the offers tempting" and he said "yes" and nodded.

I would like a 2nd rounder but not at the expense of next years 1st. Maybe we can package players and picks to move up if someone unbelieveable is there.

I'd have moved back some spots for Griffen or Hughes plus picks, but who knows what the tempting offers were. I defiantly wanted them to get someone in the 1st round, and if trading down meant leaving the 1st round then good that we stayed.

Derrick Morgan has a lot to get excited about. He's a junior who's figured out how to be a Pro already. Why are people complaining about that? He'll get better, and do better things.

He was rated VERY highly (#1 DE on most boards) and fills arguably our BIGGEST need.

It takes two to trade. Maybe we just didn't get offered a deal that made sense to us (if we were even interested in trading down to begin with). FO might've had their eye on Morgan from the get-go. Plus, how was anyone supposed to know how far guys like Wilson would fall? Hindsight is 20/20, as they say.

Who the Titans did or didn't covet is all pure speculation unless we hear it directly from the FO. Teams throw out smoke screens all the time. The way to play the game is to not let anyone know the direction you really want to go. All this talk about the Titans coveting JPP just makes me believe we really coveted someone else (likely Morgan).

I love the pick. All this talk about which DE has the highest ceiling is all opinion. Nothing more. There's no way of knowing what will happen in the future. Any of these guys could bust, be solid, or be a HOF'er. All I know is we got the best DE in the draft (according to most) and we were in dire need of DE help. I'm happy. The guy can step in and play right away and filled a major void. I honestly don't see what all the whining is about. Let's give the guy a chance to get on the field before second guessing.

I wonder what the offers were?

People who think we could of gotten a late 1st and a 2nd are crazy. It just doesn't happen. It would be like 1st and 3rd for 1st and 4th. We could of gotten Kyle Wilson, then tried for Sergio Kindle (as long as we didn't trade our 2011 1st).

I wouldn't of minded a trade down and gotten Kyle Wilson or Jerry Hughes, but i'm not complaining with Derrick Morgan.

I'm with you... People make waaaay too much of trades in the draft. Everyone knew we were picking either a DE or a DB going in. Of the top prospects that were 1st-round worthy, 2 of each position were gone when we were on the clock. We could get one of the CBs we wanted, one of the DEs we wanted, or trade out and risk settling for lesser talent. I don't see how you trade down at that point. Trade down when the talent on the board just doesn't match a need/want. If a player is there you have to take them.

I thought the Titans would trade down myself. With Morgan available at #16, not only was he someone whom we needed, someone we wanted, and could have been 'best available' at the time, I think the Titans made the right move.
I am going to miss that 2nd round pick.

Exactly. People act like they Derrick Morgan has reached his peak already at 21.

He probably has peaked. He's about the most polished DE in the draft- technically. Unlike the others that have far more upside in natural talent, he doesn't.

Sucks the Colts draft at 31 and get a better DE than the one we took at 16. That's why they stay great and we're constantly "rebuilding".

Im with you. Worst draft I can remember in a couple of years. I hope I'm wrong or that we find some gems in the rough in the late rounds.
Ever since Moss got passed over; I've had the Jerry Jones complex too. Moss on our team that year; we would have WON the superbowl, not come 1 yard short. Music City Miracle; Moss would have def done that too and we probably wouldn't have needed that play anyway with him on our team that year.
You would think we would have learned and taken Bryant. Wait till that kid lights it up for years to come. Meanwhile, we'll be cheering on everyone of Morgans 6 sacks a year until he finishes his rookie contract and bolts for money we wont give.
I'm still a Titans fan and want our team to be the best; just don't think the decision making this year or the last was the best. I think ole Bud needs to look into things, ya know?
