I dont think the ACC is going to be dissolved. The SEC may end up snagging a couple of teams, but I really dont see how only 3 conferences would work. 16 teams in a conference is already going to have issues with regards to scheduling. I cant possibly see how the scheduling would work out if a conference had more than 16 teams.

Yes. I am asking what any of that has to do with Florida or Alabama playing Texas. I didnt understand your comment.

I have also read that Texas and A&M are going to the Big 10, and Oklahoma is wanting to move to the SEC. Way to many rumors to sift through at this point and try and determine what is true, but the Big 12 is definately on life support at this point.

SEC doesn't want to play Pac10/12. Because when they lose, they'd actually drop rank rather than use the excuse "SEC teams beat up on each other because they're all so good" and somehow stay in the top 10 or whatever they're rated before the season starts (and typically unjustified).

Simple homerism trying to hack on a conference you dont like at best. Naivity and ignorance and a lack of knowledge of what college sports are at worst. I get some people dont like the SEC, to each their own. But these arguments about who the SEC does or doesnt want to play is the argument a 12 year old who doesnt understand the money aspect of all this would make. All of this is happening because of TV contracts, nothing more, nothing less. The Big 12 was losing in that regard, which is why they are bailing. It has nothing to do with not wanting to play certain teams, or wanting to play certain teams, it has to do with TV contracts. Discussing this from any other aspect is simply ignorant and denying the fact that college sports are a big money business.

bound to be a chart on the internets showing how much each conference gave out to member schools. That chart would show who's winning and who's losing.

It isnt necessarily about what was given out in the past, it is about what will be given out in the future. The Big 10 has its own network, which is why it is attractive to Nebraska at this point, and probably more schools possibly including Texas. The SEC has massive contracts with ESPN and CBS, and the Pac 10 is getting their own network, which is why they are all of a sudden attractive to these schools. The Big 12 was not in a position for their own network because Texas basically rules the conference, and was considering their own network, which would have left the rest of the conference with no attractive TV deals in comparison to the other conferences. Texas in all likeliehood would like for the Big12 to continue, so they could still pursue their own network. But that likely isnt going to happen and the other 3 conferences are going to all make a pitch for Texas.

Supposedly the Big 12 was a mess behind scenes because one school basically controlled the conference, which obviously can cause issues with the other schools.

Having 2 really good teams and a bunch of mediocre teams doesn't make you a super conference. Now please stop trying to turn a thread not about the SEC into an "SEC is the best" thread.

It does when you compare it to a conference with one good team and 10 sub-par teams.:wink2:
