I have been a long time purchaser, player, and lover of the Madden franchise. I've owned every copy since Madden 64, and have logged countless hours on the game. It just seems to me that EA sports has been slacking hard since the next generation consoles came out.

Take a look at MLB The Show. This is what a sports simulation should be: perfect. The graphics are absolutely stunning; every ballpark is perfectly recreated and looks 100% accurate, all the way to the seating sections. Player models and mannerisms look exactly like the real players. If you know a baseball players name, then The Show has perfectly recreated his batting stance, his throwing motion, his pitching windup, etc. Every individual player is unique, and accurate. Mark Teixeira has his very wide front leg in his stance, Johnny Damon flails the bat around wildly, it is just completely accurate.

Madden, however, gives us the same crappy set of issues every year. QB's can pick apart your defense restlessly, regardless of actual capabilities. DBs drop interceptions that hit them in their hands. The AI cheats to win and the commentating is just pathetic. Literally, pathetic. Not to mention the horrible freezing issues the game has had for the past couple years. Literally, the game is unplayable at times. Line backers can catch CJ with a crappy angle that would have absolutely zero chance of even touching him in real life. CJ has home run speed that has never been seen before in the NFL. So why doesn't Madden recreate that? Why is it that James Harrison can guard Jared Cook in man coverage or make a tackle on Chris Johnson 20 yards downfield? That simply can't ever happen, won't ever happen.

I can't wait for the exclusive rights EA owns to expire. Until then, I don't know if I can purchase another copy of Madden. My birthday is in August, so I'll probably just have my sister get it for me every year, but I really have to say that I expect a MUCH MUCH better game for $65 if it's the only football game around. If MLB The Show is a 10, which it is in the world of sports simulations, then Madden can only be a 7. At very best. Something needs to happen

My problem with sports games in general is once you get good, you don't lose. Ever.

The other issue with Madden vs MLB: The Show is MLB is done by Sony so it is only ever going to be on a Playstation console. The upside of this is that they can focus 100% on getting it right because they don't have to code it for more then one platform.

I am downloading the 3D demo of the Show, I am curious to see how it goes.

You will find that The Show offers a VERY high level of competition against the computer. If you swing at balls in the dirt, they will throw you balls in the dirt. If you throw first pitch fastballs for strikes every time, they'll start blasting them in the second or third inning. I agree, having only one console to develop for is an advantage. But I can still see that the time they spent making this game perfect just dwarfs the effort EAs dev team puts into Madden. If they just gave 500 copies of Madden away a month early for free, people would play the hell out of it and EA could have an open dialouge to resolve any issues the gamers have.

The two best and most realistic sports games out there are the NHL franchise and FIFA franchise. They are so close to the actual game it's scary, and I think the new NHL has won 22 sports game of the year awards so far.

Madden certainly has its share of problems, but they always meet the demands of the average gamer. EA seems content with meeting those customers expectations. 9 out of 10 people wouldn't complain about Madden. Of course when you compare it next to other games it'll fail in some area. But overall I like the new Madden. But I'll agree it could be improved some.

I hate soccer, but I loved FIFA 10. I'm sure it was the same as the others, but I just played it for the first time a few weeks ago. I'll definitely be getting 11 when it comes out.

I really doubt I'll ever get into a baseball game over a football game. This is only on the PS3, anyways.

I played an innings of The Show '10 last night (in 3D which was cool) and I got belted, but it is pretty impressive.

What Madden needs to do is go back to the basics and get the gameplay right. The rest of it will fall into place.

I wish The Show was multi-plat. I've given up on Madden. Just a roster update repackaged.

May have to get it for PS3, but first comes Mafia II, RDR (still), and Kane Lynch 2.
