    Mallett has upside too, but I agree, NFL readiness should not be one of the main factors. The truth is, with a QB as talented as these top ones are, the only way to measure upside is by the work they are willing to put in to get there. Look at Brees, brady, Rodgers, they are not the most physically gifted QBs, but they outwork just about everyone.

    Jake Locker, no doubt.

    Rumor has it the Titans scouts are very high on him.

    And if they trade back from #8, there will be no doubt in my mind that is who they are after.

    Natural Leader, hard worker.

    The Titans have NEVER had a real, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, leader at QB. Not even in #9. This is their shot.

    Don't you mean "There's no QB that the talking heads have marketed as a top QB."

    Because according to them, VY, Leinart, Quinn, Alex Smith, J. Russell, etc. were ALL top QBs. You have no idea what you are talking about, and neither does anyone else on the subject. No one here can say that there is no top QB in this class, because only time will tell.

    You (and I) don't know anything about this. So stop pretending like you are an expert.

    People overestimate and underestimate players every year. Don't be a lemming.

    what else you got for us Nostradamus?

    I lie what you said about Locker and agree with you but are you really going to question Steve McNair's ability as a leader? McNair may not have been an elite level passer (although in he had his moments) but he was an unquestioned leader on the field and in the locker room. If whoever we draft had even half the toughness and will power that Steve McNair then we would be getting an amazing person as our QB. Give #9 his props.

    And to all the people who say "I want our QB to be as value pick" or "The best teams in the league don't draft based on need" really need to relies the difference between grabbing a franchise QB as opposed to drafting any other position. People like to point out how the Steelers, Patriots, Colts, etc. draft based on value rather then need but that model doesn't apply because all of those teams have QB's. When we pick at #8 one or two QB's will be off of the board. At number 8 our likely options will either be:

    Newton/Gabbert (one will be gone for sure)
    Locker (Shannahan reportedly loves Locker and I think he will pull the trigger on him at #10)
    Mallet(Vikings/Dolphins will prob add a QB)
    Ponder (Seattle may not be sold on Whitehurst and may look for a WCO signal caller)

    Now lets assume that the other front offices are as smart as Tennessee's. Out of the people I listed do you really believe that we will recognize the traits of a future franchise guy while no one else does? Do you really think Seattle, Minnesota, or Miami are going to let someone with franchise level potential go because of where the talking heads project them to go.

    If you think a guy has what it takes to play QB in this league you take him because the odds are that if you see those qualities then some else will to. If a QB makes it out of round one it is because no team looked at him and said "This guy is going to be a star. This guy is going to lead our franchise into the promised land."

    Here's how I see it (comparisons):

    Blaine Gabbert --> Alex Smith
    Cam Newton --> Young Daunte Culpepper
    Ryan Mallett --> Kerry Collins
    Jake Locker --> Donovan McNabb
    Christian Ponder --> Chad Pennington

    I think Gabbert will be a huge bust, check out this link: http://www.musiccitymiracles.com/2011/3/3/2027652/2011-draft-bust-blaine-gabbert. I do not want Gabbert. I think Newton could turn out like a Daunte Culpepper, but will need a couple years to develop. Mallett has all the physical skills to be a legit QB, he could be someone like Kerry Collins/Phillip Rivers. Locker is kinda a wildcard, he has a Tebow like heart. Ponder and Chad Pennington remind me so much of each other. Personally, who I want changes everyday... I do know one thing though: We need a QB, and we need one now.

    Here's how I see the QBs going:
    Gabbert - Bengals (1st - 4th pick)
    Newton - Vikings (1st - 12th pick)
    Locker - Seattle (1st - 25th pick)
    Mallett - Tennessee (2nd - 39th pick)
    Ponder - Washington (2nd - 41th pick)
    Dalton - San Fran (3rd - 76th pick)
    Kaepernick - Miami (3rd - 79th pick)

    (Cardinals get Kolb & Vikings get McNabb)

    I warmed up to mallet a little more in the past week due to the combine... I admit, his interview really agitated me... but then he backed it up by being one the better QBs at the combine...
    I really don't mind who we pick since I'll support them nonetheless... but the list below shows my preference

    Well said..I agree with everything here. That is the reason why there are so few round 2 QBs that pan out, there is a reason they're still there.

    I probably could have expressed myself a little clearer. Based on what you can see on film none of them is a top QB prospect right now. And yes, genius, you are right about the whole predicting the future stuff. I was not trying to say that any of them could not be a elite QB in the future. It is as simple as this. At this point they do not deserve to be called top QBs. But on the other hand I really can care less about what you are saying since the art of discussion is something that is very foreign to you. You rather insult people. But that is absolutely fine. You can never expect too much from certain people.
